I have heard all sorts of things about builds on tis board getting up to absurd ACs, but I haven't been able to find any builds with truely fantastic ones ( though "I may be tiny but your dead" did seem to be fairly impressive. SO here is the question(s).

What is the highest AC which can be achieved using the core books only? We will say 28 point build.

Same build, what is the highest ac that can be achieved using any and all wizards sources? ( +0 level adjustment race only please)

Please show me your builds.

Thank you in advanced.

A Wizard 1/Monk 8/Duelist 10/Dwarvern Defender 1.

Wizard: Shield spell +4 AC, Mage Armor Spell +4 AC
Monk: Wis+1 AC
Duelist: Int bonus to AC, level bonus to AC when fighting defensively
Dwarvern Defender: Defensive Stance +4 to AC

Use two weapons, Fight Defensively (+2), use Combat Expertise (+5), take Dodge (+1), take Two Weapon Defense (+1).

Assuming a you max your Dex, Wis, and Int, you should be able to clear AC 40 easily. However, you should know that AC has diminishing returns. At CR 10-20, most enemies have at least one attack that ignore AC. If you're going to build a defensive PC, make sure that it also has high saving throws (Paladin/Monk), alternate protections (Evasion, Mettle), magical protections (Ring of Blinking, Cloak of Displacement, etc), and most importantly, maximum hit points - the most important aspect of any tank.

Did you check the link offered to you? Here is is again. (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=439367) It's been a year, but AC of 229 is probably sufficient for your purposes. Simply delete anything that isn't core.

Yes I did---though it was a challenge to get to load up--- but that build uses custom magical items and lots of non core material, I was hoping someone could post a build which didn't do either. The custom magical items particularly are bothersome not that it isn't a ridiculously high AC. But I would really like to see how high one can get within the confines of the core rules.

Ah. Well, an Aasimar Cleric 16 with the Trickery Domain could polymorph himself into a Planetar (AC 32) slap on a full plate and heavy shield (both GMV'd to +5, for a total of +20, Cast Shield of Faith (+5 Deflection) and Carry a defending sword (GMW'd to +5, all of it put on defense). That's about AC of +62. If you can figure out a way to cast barkskin that will boost your natural AC some more.

All of that is straight core. (It assumes the cleric has a Bead of Karma, btw, to boost caster level). And it works without Aasimar, too, I just liked the outsider-outsider balance.

And note that the defending property says the bonus stacks with "all others". If you read that as saying it will stack with other weapons with the defending property, then just add some defending shield spikes and defending armor spikes for another +10 AC. But as noted, this gets into diminishing returns.
