I was thinking on either a Cleric or a Ur-Priest, but since i have never played any of them, im not sure what to pick. I dont wanna waste Cleric levels with a Ur-priest, but then what is the fastest way to become an Ur-Priest? And do u have any pointers on how to rolepley one? |
| Xeraph10-29-06, 02:24 PM | Why is Arcane Magic not allowed? I mean, if it is because of the power it ensures for the character, you DM might frown if you pull the Ur-priest card and destroys everything at level 14 with your 9th level spells. Why not just go Cleric, that way you won't be gimped until you reach Ur-priest maturity and you will be plenty powerful. The two standard choices of Domains are: Travel and Magic(or is it Spell?): To be able to use spell-trigger itmes as a Wizard is great, but the Freedom of Movement bag of goodies is great in so many cases from level one to twenty. Undeath and Planning: These two babies opens up for Divine Metamagic (Persistent) which is one of the strongest comboes in the game, allowing you to have 24 hour buffs at the cost of some measly Turn Undead attempts. A variant is combining it with Prestige Paladin(Unearthed Arcana) and Serenity(Dragon Magazine Compendium), this way your only prime score for Turn Undead attempts and the power of your turning is Wisdom...You will also recieve Wisdom bonus to saves from the Paladin's Divine Grace ability. |
| Hanniball10-29-06, 04:21 PM | what is the fastest way to become an Ur-Priest? It requires you to be LE, but a Monk 2/Hexblade 3 qualifies and nets you Wis to AC, Evasion, Mettle, and Cha to Saves. so what should i play? A Druid. Either way...just my 2 cp |
| Tenebrous_Sage10-29-06, 04:57 PM | Why doesn't your DM allow arcane magic? If he thinks it's broken then he obviously hasn't seen a well played druid or cleric in his campaign. While druids are generally considered more powerful, clerics are still high up there among the most powerful classes. To help with the process I give you The Cleric Handbook, The Druid Handbook, and Druid Spell Combos. There not completely up to date, but they have good information. Hope that helps. |

Personally, I'd use the Druid as a Summon Monster Spammer with your current party. That'll be a decent workaround for the lack of Rogue, if played right. |
