I'm playing in a (probably) one-shot gestalt game with some old friends. Despite very temporary disappointment in being a gestalt character with a d4 Hit Die, I got pretty giddy when i reaized just what a well-built Psion/Wizard would be capable of.

The character's essentially made, but I have a few days left for tweaking. It's a level 10 game. I just would appreciate any and all advice from you guys, especially since I have never played a gestalt character OR a mid-level psion before.

Here goes. Basically, he uses his powers for offense and defense and his spells for defense, buffing, summoning, and just all-around useful stuff. Restricted schools are Evocation and Necromancy.

(Special Note: We play 3.0 with exceptions. We use 3.5 classes, and only 3.5 psionics material. However, other combat rules and wizard spells use 3.0 rules.)

(All magic items except the Brooch were crafted by the character)
Spellbook
Boccob's Blessed Book
Everburning Torch
Two smokesticks (in belt pouch)
Headband of Intellect +4
Cloak of Resistance +3
Amulet of Natural Armor +2
Brooch of Shielding
Crawling Tattoos: Body Adjustment, two Energy Ray (cold), two Energy Ray (fire)

GP: 260
SP: 545
(out of original 49,000 GP)

XP: 48,262 (out of original 50,000 XP)

Any comments are appreciated. I'm liking the potential combination of Mind Fog and Psychic Crush right now. Obviously, I'll be boosting my AC with Mage Armor, Force Screen, Defensive Precog, etc. It has also not escaped my attention that nearly all of my offensive (psionic) repertoire is available to me if I'm in Gaseous Form or Polymorphed into a non-humanoid.

A fun trick with the psion kineticist is to use solicit psi-crystal (3rd level power) and opt out your concentration on the power to the psi-crystal. Next round you start up your current. So for a 45 pp expendature you can get 40d6 the first round and 80d6 dmg the subsequent rounds for as long as you can concentrate. Also these currents arc to secondary targets. So, if you're fighting a crowd of people you can literally mow them down with beams of energy kinda mechwarrior style.

Another cool trick: energy push + energy wall + temporal accleration. Temporal acceleration to stop time put up as many energy walls as you can, and then when time returns push the enemies through the walls.

Since you have both spell-casting classes you can now mix uber gish arcane spells and uber gish psionic spells and be a melee monster.

For a decent wizard/psion gestalt I would have the following gishy build:

Ftr1/Wizard6/Spell-Sword1/EK10/Wiz2//Rng1/Egoist6/Slayer10/Egoist4

This gives you BAB 16, ML 18, CL 18, etc. Also, you'll have better than wizard hit dice: 1d10 + 6d4 + 10d8 + 2d6 + 2d4.

As for feats... whatever you want. I'd have a mix of melee and metamagic/psionic feats in there. I personally love mounted builds, but it's not necessary.

Note, for armor you will have Arcane Spell Failure, however spell-sword lets you ignore 10% of this. So buy yourself a Mithril Celestial Armor, it'll have a 5% ASF, no AC check, at least a +8 to your AC (you could add more on), and it can be worn under your clothing [read as: under your robe].

Wow, I like the psicrystal idea...but I wasn't planning to use one in this build. Someday when I do a straight psion for a serious game, perhaps.

The Energy Push/Wall idea I like much more...I shall look into it. Can't do Temporal Acceleration though, I'm 10th level, remember? And not likely to improve much, since it's a one-shot!

Hmm...would it make sense to drop Control Air and Energy Cone for Energy Push and Energy Wall?

Thanks for replying.
