| Chasmodai10-05-04, 02:59 PM | Hello all. I'll be playing in an evil campaign next week, and I need to make a character that can survive the machinations of his fellow PCs. The game will start at level 12 and I've come up with this build so far: Half-Giant (bargained for no ecl) Psychic Warrior 8/ Illithid Slayer (changed to Undead Slayer) 4. Abilities (90pts one a 1-for-1 basis) Str: 26 (with +4 Belt and corrupted Arm of Nyr) Dex: 17 (with corrupted Arm of Nyr) Con: 24 (with +4 Bracers) Int: 14 Wis: 24 (with +4 Amulet) Cha: 8 Feats (1 at every odd level): Power Attack Track Psionic Body Psionic Weapon Greater Psionic Weapon Deep Impact Two Weapon Fighting (for the cool factor) Expanded Knowledge (Crystal Shard) Expanded Knowledge (Touchsight) Expanded Knowledge (Dispel Psionics) Improved Toughness Psionic Meditation Battlejump Powers: 1 - Dissipating Touch Offensive Prescience Offensive Precognition Defensive Precognition Vigor Crystal Shard 2 - Hustle Body Adjustment Empathic Transfer Psionic Lion's Charge Detect Hostile Intent 3 - Hostile Empathic Transfer Touchsight Dispel Psionics 4 - Inertial Barrier HP: 184 Fort: +14 Rflx: +6 Will: +13 Knowing the rest of my party, they'll be aiming for lichdom at the end of their career, which the reason I went for Undead Slayer. The question is, is there anything I'm missing out. General tactics is to Battlejump with Lion's Charge and do massive amounts of damage. Deep Impact to negate most AC, and Greater Psionic Weapon for even more damage. My DM has warned me of the general deviousness of the rest of the party (a bunch of Shar worshipping Mystic Theurges), and told me to watch my back. Can you guys see any loopholes? Thanks in advance! |

Where do you get your missions from? Who are you likely to be fighting? In the two evil games I've seen so-far, the game went the way of intrigue with secret notes being handed between the GM and between players. The half-ogre *does* have a place in such a game, and can be rather effective, but to get the most out of the character you'll want some way of taking-part in intrigue. How to do this? 1: Ally with another player. or 2: Take Leadership and the Might Makes Right feat from Races of Feyrun Might Makes Right allows you to apply both your strength and charisma modifiers to leadership. Your cohort can watch your back and ensure you get a fair share of the loot. Followers can serve as artisans, spies, sages, healers, whatever you want them to be. |
| Chasmodai10-06-04, 02:35 AM | Well, the DM has been exceptionaly vague about the details of his game. All he's said so far is that it'll be set in FR and we'll have a chance to kick major ass. The problem with Leadership is that it requires a base Charisma of 15, which means I have to adjust my other stats to take it. Not really keen on the idea. I have a tentative ally of sorts, a friend of mine who's playing a cleric of Hoar. But what I'm wondering about is the build and optimization? Is there anything I can do to make this guy really kick ass?? |

Reading the Psychic Warrior build guide and Compendium (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=53738&) might be helpful too. |

That's one hell of a smacker...Undead or not... those spellcaster's ain't gonna survive one full attack from the character |
| Chasmodai10-06-04, 09:22 AM | I've read the King of Smack. So has my DM. That being said, he banned Rapidstrike (none of us has Draconomicon anyway). But still, the general idea could work... |

I don't think you need Rapidstrike to take out anyone with 12d6 per attack, at 2 attacks per round. You can do 3 if you have haste. Any enemy in your path is dead, it's that simple. |
| Pathanus10-07-04, 12:18 AM | You should consider being undead from the start, since with no Constitution score you will have more points to put into other stats. The Phrenic Template might also be worth looking into if you can buy off the level adjustment. It nets you lots of psi-like abilities, including Teleport, and psi (spell) resistance. For a PW build definately checkout the PW Build Compendium. 1 - Variant Rogue with fighter bonus feats instead of sneak attack 2 - PW 3 - Variant Rogue with fighter bonus feat instead of sneak attack 3 - PW 4 - PW 5 - PW 6 - PW 7 - Illithid (Undead Slayer) 8 - IS 9 - IS 10 - IS 11 - IS 12 - IS 13 - IS 14 - IS 15 - IS 16 - Crystal Master link here (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/psm/20040625d) 17 - CM 18 - CM 19 - CM 20 - PW Total Feats over 20 Levels: 7 Levels, 2 Fighter Bonus, 3 PW Bonus, Feats Required for Build (3): Track, Psycrystal Affinity, Psicrystal Containment Recommended Feats (7): Psionic Weapon, Deep Impact, Power Attack, Psychic Meditation, Expanded Knowledge (Schism (4th level power); True Seeing, Psionic (6th level power); Entagling Ectoplasm (1st level power) Left over (2): ... I suggest Sapphire and Jet for the Crystal Master gems (touchsight to 20 ft. and Fly twice per day), and Heroic for one Psycrystal personality to boost your Fort save more. Psycrystal Containment allows you to store a Psychic Focus within your Psycrystal, allowing you to keep 2 foci at one time so you can Power Attack and Deep Impact and still keep focus for your Illithid Slayer abilities. Or Power Attack with Deep Impact twice in a round. It may not be optimized as much as you would like but it is a fun build. Again, I would read the PW build compendium for tons more builds if you are set on better optimized ones for specific purposes, as this one is probably not as heavy combat oriented as you may like it.
