I am currently playing with my group through the Shackled City Adventure Path from dungeon. My wizard died last session, so I am looking for some character ideas.

The group consists of a dwarven hexblade (melee tank, damage dealer)
cleric of kord (healer, secondary fighter)
druid (summoner, divine caster, with wildshape possible secondary tank)
thief (ranged combatant, skill monkey)

The last character was shooting for Incantatar which wasn't a good idea, as I would not have got my Spellcraft high enough up, I guess.
Anyway... I would like to play an interesting arcane caster that has enough ohmp and is fun to play. I am mostly interested in battlefield control and support . We are level five now and almost all WotC books are fair game. Thanks for your input!

there are several choices you have open if you want a arcane spellcaster built for pure offence then take the warmage, or if you want one that has a list of useful powers then the warlock is your choice. (complete arcane)
If your wizard died last session and you want to keep that from happening again then take the dread necromancer from hero's of horror, which as the name suggest it a necromantic master with a horrific mastery over undead and at 20th level you transform into a lich while you gain some lich benfits as you progress through the class.
