Right now i have a lvl 8 monk might be 9 depending on my DM. I am building him right as a general melee monk. I need some advice on what to do next. Any feats, items, or skills to get or focus on. I'm also looking in to getting a prestige class for him too. Right now the only thing I have found and that might fit my character are Drunken Master and Red Avenger.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Get out of monk after lvl 11, there is no reason why you should be in monk after that. What books, setting, more information? Right now all I can say is get your arcanist to cast greater mighty wallop on you, but that requires races of the dragon and I dont know if you have that book.

We're in forgotten realms and using 3.5. Never thought of going into any magic based classes. I was thinking of at least getting a prestige around eleven. Including your suggestion pheonix is there any other recommendations? I was thinking of sticking with a more related route to monk.

We need your books allowed, current feats/abilities to help you properly.

feats? books? Otherwise you might get info that isn't useful.

BTW, I don't think Red Avenger exists in 3.5.

Do you have Tome of Battle?

Monk 6/Shou Disciple 5/Full BAB is good.

You don't cast greater mighty wallop, your wizard of the party does. Its an hour*caster lvl buff, your party caster buffs you with it just like it was a daily greater magic weapon.

Well, my DM has all of my character sheets, and I'm not sure which books he allows. As far as feats go, I think most if not all books are allowed. As far as books in full that are allowed i'm not sure. You can still make your suggestions and I'll check with my DM later.
This is a mostly accurate list of what feats/abilities i have right now.
Evasion, Mobility, Stunning Attack, Dodge, Power Attack, Cleave, Combat Reflexes, Combat Expertise, Spring Attack, and whatever else i naturally get for monk at my lvl(8-9).

I don't think it is either but he's allowing it. I'm not sure which edition it was but i was looking at a monk warrior book that listed prestige classes. To give you a better idea which edition it is here some other classses from, not that i was looking at them all. Drunken master, Red Avenger, Monk of the long death, tribal protector, fist of hector. Sorry about the confusion on the books I'm pretty new to D&D.

So I'm guessing Unearthed Arcana is allowed, since there's no way you could have those feats unless you are using either the Variant Monk styles or Oriental Adventures feat-swapping.

Shou Disciple (Unapproachable East) is a natural (you'll need to take Weapon Focus-Unarmed). Tome of Battle would be great, but I don't think it's a likely source.

Read the guide, first of all. See if you can swap out Cleave for Weapon Focus, else take it ASAP.

Sorry, I forgot about that. I have weapon focus unarmed. Oh, and my regional feet is blooded. Besides those two, I can't think of anything else right now.

In the campaign, the party consists of my monk8, a cleric8, a sorcerer8 most likely going to take dragon disciple, and a rogue3/fighter2/asassin3. Again, I apologize for not having the set list of books allowed.

Your biggest contribution to the group will be to tackle your sorceror friend and beat him senseless before he takes Dragon Disciple. It's NOT a class for full casters.

Ah lol. I think he is leaning more towards archmage now or warmage. But that is besides the point.

does anyone mind posting the basics on the Shou Disciple PrC?

Unapproachable east, continues monk damage and flurry, gives 2 bonus feats, full bab and the ability to flurry with any martial weapon.

This definitely sounds like Sword and Fist. Red Avenger hasn't been updated to 3.5, but is has been errata'd here (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/er/20040125a).

If your current character has 8 ranks in listen and tumble you fulfill all of the requirements, so I'd jump into Red Avenger right away.

Monk 8/RA 10/Singh Rager 2

+16 BAB, saves 16/13/16, Rage 3/day, Wis mod*2 on: one save 10/day, use of RA class skills 10/day, Deadly shout DC, and Stunning Shout DC. Lay on Hands for 20*(Wis*2) HP/day.

Either way...just my 2 cp

That was close to my original plan, but should i take another lvl in monk to get improved evasion or even wait till 11 to greater flurry?
