| Sjafi09-20-04, 10:53 PM | Hey. I have found out that my DM will allow us to use pretty much and d20 book we can, as long as he approves of it. So, I found the d20 warcraft book and checked it out. I decided to make a Demon Hunter. This is what I have so far. I'm looking for any improvements I could do. By the way, in this campaign, he's allowing us to start at level 10: Race: Night Elf (+2 wis, -2 int. +1 level adjustment.) Class/Lvl: 2 Fighter, 1 Barbarian, 1 Sorcerer, 5 Demon Hunter. Demon Hunter reqs: +5 base fort. save, Blind Fight, ablility to cast arcane spells. Stats: 18/19/15/12/18/12 HP: 65 AC: 17(without any armor, haven't found out how much cash we will get) Fort: 11/9/2 Ref: 7/3/4 Will: 10/6/4 BaB: 11 Grapple: 13= 5+4+0+4 Feats: Blind FIght, 2-Weapon Defence, 2-Weapon Fighting, Improved 2-Wep FIghting, Greater 2-Wep Fighting, Improved 2-Wep Defence. Special Abilities: Enlightment(blind sight, detect evil), Mana Burn 1/day, Immolation 1/day, Improved Warblade(+2 enhancement bonus, flaming, keen), Evasion, Transformation(+1 AC), Rage 1/day, Fast movement. Spells: I'm allowed to use sorcerer spells equal to half my demon hunter level. For example, I'm level 5 demon hunter, I can use up to level 2 sorcerer spells. Weapons: 2x Warblade: +15 attack bonus(including everything) Damage: 1d8+6 Critical: 19-20 x2 With greater 2wep fighting, I get a total of 4 attacks, add flaming to each of those and the damage is decently high. I'm just looking for improvements or different approaches I could use making a demon hunter. Thanks, -Sjafi |
| Blade271809-21-04, 12:11 AM | If Demon Hunter isn't a 10 level class, then go for a level of Spellsword (for ASF reduction), a few levels of Eldritch Knight, and a level of Dragonslayer. Personally, I would avoid the Barbarian levels and replace it with a level of Shadow Scout (from Oriental Adventures), though Rage can be handy. Are your stats set in stone? |
| Sjafi09-21-04, 12:41 AM | My stats are not set in stone. I'm still developing the character. The demon hunter is a prestige class and I'd like to get 5 levels of it so I'm able to use immolation. So, that really only leaves me with 4 levels of classes because of the +1 LA, all of which need ot meet the reqs. for a demon hunter, too. Seeing your suggestions, I don't think I'd be able to get most of them as most of them are prestige with certain reqs. -Sjafi |
| Blade271809-21-04, 01:07 AM | Spellsword and Eldritch Knight have no requirements that you haven't already met. Between the two classes, you require: full armor and martial weapon proficiencies, 3rd level arcane casting, some skill ranks, and to defeat an enemy through force of arms alone. Dragonslayer would be a little tougher, as it requires two feats, Dodge and Iron Will. But the way I see it, you're too heavily invested in the TWF chain; your third offhand iterative attack won't hit that frequently, making GTWF less useful. And Blind Fight can be acquired for free with a one level dip into Knight of the Middle Circle. |
| Sjafi09-21-04, 01:30 AM | I guess I wasn't very clear. What i'm asking for is improvement or alternative builds that add up to level 10, not further improvements beyond level 10. I just checked out my attack bonus for the attacks, they end up being +15 for first and second, +10 for the third, +5 for the fourth. You're right in that I doubt my 3rd off hand attack will hit very much. Perhaps I should get rid of GTW, unless I can find another way of reaching a much higher attack bonus. As said before, I'd LIKE to have 5 levels of demon hunter for it's benefits, so that would leave me with 4 levels of classes to choose from. One of them must be a class that can cast arcane spells. -Sjafi |
| Snicker-Snack09-21-04, 01:35 AM | Where are you playing? If you are playing in FRCS, It seems that magical training would be enough to qualify you to Demon Hunter. So you could have 4 levels of fighting classes. I'd like to help you more, but i don't know a thing about the Demon Hunter PrC, so it gets a little difficult to suggest something... |
| Sjafi09-21-04, 01:42 AM | What is FRCS? Whatever info on the DH PrC you'd like to know, let me know and I'll clarify it if I can. Here are a scan of the pages if it provides any help. http://img54.exs.cx/img54/1899/dh1.jpg http://img54.exs.cx/img54/6096/dh2.jpg (probably have to zoom) http://img54.exs.cx/img54/6128/dh3.jpg -Sjafi |
| Snicker-Snack09-21-04, 01:53 AM | What is FRCS? Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting, though the latest version of the feat is in Players Guide to Faerūn. It allows you to cast some cantrips as either a wizard or sorcerer. |
| Sjafi09-21-04, 01:55 AM | I'm not sure, but I think we'll be playing in Eberron. Forgotten Realms is a possibility though...for all I know we aren't playing in any type -_- -Sjafi |
| Sjafi09-21-04, 05:32 PM | I also thought of taking up a level of monk, getting high wisdom and using the ac bonus with no armor. I'm not sure if that's really worth it though, unless there are unarmor feats I could use. -Sjafi |
