Advise on monk/sorceror/enlightened fist [Archive] - Wizards Community

10-19-06, 04:57 PM Im planning to a monk sorceror enlightened fist.

Are there any suggestions of feats i should take or builds to consider.

I myself was thinking 1 lvl of monk and then sorceror all the way untill enlightened fist and then sorceror again.

Ow and if i take the ascetic mage feat from CoA i get my cha bonus on armor instead of wisdom. But what happens then if i buy a monks belt? Do i also get my wisdom bonus then?

As for Ascetic Mage + Monk's Belt, I think that's probably up to your DM. I doubt it though.

10-22-06, 09:35 AM I read the thread, but it ends at 2004 leaving all the new options out.

What with arcane disciple with the domain competition, giving a divine power and righteous might. Should really kick arse.

10-22-06, 10:22 AM I suggest a level of Marshall, so that you never have to think about Spell Resistance again, as your attack spells (touches) will allow it, you don't have the actions to cast anti-sr spells (you could, but there are better swift/ standard actions for you) or the spare feats to fight it effectively. But you can get the easy way out.

10-22-06, 10:21 PM The monk's belt doesn't give wisdom to AC. It gives the monk's AC bonus class feature, or increases it. In your case it would be increased by four levels.

Monk 1/Sorcerer/Enlightened Fist 4, then sorcerer (or full casting PrC) is decent for a more casting-oriented character. Monk 1/Fighter 1/Sorcerer/Enlightened Fist 4/Eldritch Knight 10 is better for more 'melee'-type builds.

For situations where alignment changes or neutral monks (or lawful bards) are allowed, the Sublime Fist/Enlightened Chord is better.

10-23-06, 09:11 AM Ok, i got my character rolled and planned:

Str: 14
Dex: 15
Con: 13
Int: 12
Wis: 12
Cha: 15

Classes planned:

Monk 1/Sorceror 4/Enlightened Fist 10/Master of the East Wind 5 (DR 314)/Epic Enligthened fist X

Alternate class feature: metamagic sorceror instead of familiar (PHB2)

Things i Am tumbering with:
replace the begin with: Monk 1/ Sorceror 1/Human paragorn 3
Human paragorn will give me better hit points, better skills, one additional feat, and +2 to one ability (CHA?) for the cost of one less caster lvl.

Ability scores:
CHA all the way! or +1 dex and +1 con at 8th and 12th?

Feats:
1st: Combat Casting
(human): Practised spellcaster
3rd: Improved Initiative
6th: Ascetic Mage
9th: Arcane Strike
12th: Arcane Disciple (competition domain)
15th: Empower Spell
18th: ??

Items:
Some metamagic rods come in handy (especialyl combined with metamagic sorceror!)

Spells:
to be determined.

Some questions:

Does the complete mage offer any interesting options i should consider???
