| Candide11-13-06, 03:59 PM | My group is starting the Age of Worms adventure path. We're starting it at 5th level in the Blackwall Keep adventure. I'm not sure what to make Party composition includes: Human Cleric5 Elf Wizard5 Human Ninja5 Gnome Wizard3/Rogue2 Human Barbarian5 28 pt. buy, Core and complete series(but no complete mage) only, standard magic and items. Generic, PHB-greyhawk world. I don't know what to play. We could stand another meaty guy. Cleric could double as both warrior and spellslinger. Druid could too, and navigate us through natural terrain areas. thoughts? |

A Ranger with FE: Undead/Wormborn, the right Bane weapon, and FE feats that up saves, do more dmg, and the like, will be useful in just about every aspect of the game. Just get something to up them will saves (like, say, a Mind Blank item). ==Aelryinth |

| Mucknuggle11-13-06, 06:56 PM | My group is just finishing up that adventure actually. I'd say that you might want to get somebody that can fill the role as general party face and that can also provide good support in battle. In other words, a good bard would fit well. My group looks something like this: Beguiler 5/Mindbender 1/ Shadowcraft Mage 1 (me - I'm a great scout and sneaky type - good support in battle) Wizard 5/Wild Mage 2 - crazy wizard Cleric 7 - the player isn't the greatest so he's basically just a walking bandaid - oh, and he likes to smash things with his mace Ranger 7 - archery focused - he's been pretty helpful so far. Tracking and such has been great. Paladin/Marshal/Fighter/Chameleon thing - he's our tank and a great face (diplomacy through the roof) It's a pretty tough series of adventures though. This one was surprisingly easy compared to what we faced before it though. |
| Terraneaux11-13-06, 07:36 PM | More clerics are always good- there will be a ridiculous amount of undead in the campaign and I can think of one adventure in particular that is pretty much uncompleteable without death wards all round. The barbarian should be able to tank pretty well-and I can say that it is actually a good thing to not have anyone in the party with fighter levels. A cleric of Boccob would go over pretty well. Take Magic and Trickery, those are both pretty good domains. SInce you have the magic domain you can use arcane wands and scrolls and healing is always good. |
| NatchFeral11-13-06, 08:07 PM | A cleric does seem like a good idea. Take Protection and Travel as domains, since your Wizard/Rogue will tag behind in those vital spells such as Teleport. This does nothing to hurt your ability to tank, and faced with hordes of undead, status enhancers (restoration, etc.) will be vital. Do nothing to lose caster levels, since your ability to defeat SR will be important. Oh yeah, undead too. |
| Swrdsinger11-13-06, 08:39 PM | Ive been working on this too, and the Undead with rediculously irritating/deadly, weird effect has been, well, rediculous. I seem to recal there being some kind of ranger specific will save boosting something or other feat in libris mortis. Undying font of life, or a name like that? I recal it sounding useful as hell |
