First of all, thanks for taking the time to even click on this topic. Hopefully you can help. :)

Okay, here's the basis of my character: He's a 4th level Air Genasi Wizard who focuses on creating items using Alchemy and Item Creation feats, such as poisons and ravages and grenades and such. Eventually, I'm going to have him work on a crossbow-like invention that allows him to increase the range of grenadelike weapons. Also, being an Air Genasi, he loves being in the air, so he created glider wings that allow him to soar in the sky (a situation that also allows him to bomb people from above :D).

I haven't rolled up his stats yet, but I'm going to focus on Intelligence (for his spells) and Dexterity (for his ranged attacks). The high Intellect will also help me with the skill points I need for his crafting abilities. As far as feats go, I was definately going to grab Improved Levitate so that he could use it 5/day instead of once (which will help him get into the air and help him break his fall in case something goes horribly wrong). I'm stuck on the second feat, however. I was thinking Spellcasting Prodigy to help with spells, but he's going to have such a high INT I'm not sure if it's really neccisary. I was also considering a combat-oriented feat like Point Blank Shot or Weapon Proficiency (grenades) if I need it. Also, I was thinking of taking a flaw or two to gain extra feats to help my character survive, since the average level in the party is 10.

There are a few reasons why I chose Wizard over things that made a little more sense, like Cleric or Rogue. The first was that I wanted spells. In our capaign, spellcasters have a distinct advantage over melee types (mostly thanks to summoning hordes of Celestial Bison to take down Elder Earth Elementals and such ;)). Second of all, I wanted an arcane spellcaster, because we currently have 2 clerics, a ranger, a druid, and soon we'll have a paladin, while we only have one arcanist (a sorcerer). That left only the Wizard, Sorcerer, Hexblade, and Bard. After going through the choices, I decided on Wizard not only for the bonus feats, but also for the "Domain Wizard" variant. (I *really* like the Transmutation domain). I don't think the domain restrictions on Genasi apply to arcane domains, so he should be good to go as far as that's concerned. However, I haven't picked a familiar yet; I was thinking Raven would be nice because it's an air creature that can communicate with my Wizard at the lower levels (thanks to its speak language ability). Plus, the Genasi can train it to drop bombs as well. :D With all that said, any suggestions on how I can use Wizard to improve on his crafting and grenading would be appreciated. :)

So, in summary, I need help with the following things: effective feats, crafting, familar selection, and spell selection. As far as crafting goes, I'd love to know favorite/effective alchemical items, as well as any advice regarding his glider wings. Here is a link to help give y'all an idea of what I'm talking about:

Basically the glider would look similar to that. The wings would be strapped to a backpack-type mechanism, folded up until he needed them (kind of like a bird's wings). He would also be able to lock them in place in case he needed to scoop down really quick and needed his hands free (to drop a bomb, save a kitten, etc). I think a mechanism similar to this was presented in one of the books, but it only activated if you fell 20 feet or so.

Anyhoo, I totally appreciate any feedback those of you with experience in this sort of stuff can give. Thanks again for looking! :D

If you get Extend Spell, Skill Focus, one of the creation spells and a whole mess of skills, you can qualify for Techsmith - you don't lose spellcasting progression, a neat-o construct companion, and a lot of flavorful abilities, a few of which aren't all that bad. Its FR, which you may not be able to use, but I think its a generic enough class. Another really cool thing about the Techsmith is that you get Weapon Proficiency (Firearms).

Master Alchemist also sounds like a good fit for you, you can make potions of Delayed Blast Fireball (i think) as mini-tactical nuclear weapons...

So you like gadgets, eh? Nothing screams gadgets like the Artificer. Yeah, so it's officially titled GNOME Artificer, but run it by your DM and see if it'll fly (pun very intended). Familiar-wise, if you get the feat Improved Familiar or something kinda like that, you'll have the option to acquire a tiny or small elemental to do your bidding. So if you do decide to use a feat on it, get yourself a wee little Air Elemental for pure flavor. Else, just stick to some kind of bird as a familiar.

Ah, this takes me back to those days of yore when I used to watch Rurouni Kenshin....

Thanks for all the advice, people! The prestige classes sound interesting...do y'know where I can find the Gnome Artificer and the Alchemist?

they are both in magic of fearun(MoF)

neither has been updated in the PGtF, so I guess you can use them as before.

gnome artificer is interesting but has crazy prereqs and doesnt gain spell progression. instead he gains his own device powers list.
master alchemist can later brew potions of up to ninth lvl, which is quite powerful and gains caster progression every lvl.
