| WoodFloor07-30-06, 12:58 AM | Hey what's up. I was just wondering what a good build would be to end up with a character who was like Akuma from the street fighter series. I was thinking mutli class monk with psychic warrior. Any thoughts or ideas? I just decided today that it would be a good idea so I will need some input I don't have a lot of books so there could be stuff I am missing that makes more sense for this character. ANY HELP greatly appreciated |
| Xaktsaroth07-30-06, 01:23 AM | Check out my Digital Character Conversion Thread, the place on the boards for just the type of help your asking for. I created Bowser, Megaman and Rush, and Raziel, so I don't think your a dork.(or I'm a bigger one. :P) |
| Reis07-30-06, 01:49 AM | is akuma the cat looking dude with the high-top basketball shoes? what are those a pair of keen +5 FILA's of speed? i'd say we're looking at some kind of monk/druid hybrid...maybe check out the druidic sacred fist thread elsewhere on this forum |
| Candide07-30-06, 02:49 AM | Akuma is the "darker" Ryu/Ken type. Monk seems to fit all of those guys well. Maybe Akuma should have some Warlock levels? PHB2's "Ki Blast" feat = Hadoken obviously |
| Reis07-30-06, 03:47 AM | Monk2/Hexblade3/Ur-priest2/Sacred Fist8 (using sacred fist to advance ur-priest divine progression) is pretty cool. you get +13BAB(+20 with divine power), Divine CL 14 with practiced spellcaster, access to 9th level divine spells, evasion, good base saves, 1d10 base unarmed damage, wis to AC, able to rebuke undead for divine metamagic, cha to saves vs spells, mettle, sacred flames fun-ness. I'd emphasize wisdom and charisma foremost and dex and con second. If you can fit in weapon finesse, you could dump str and do what you can for int...hopefully being human will help you a bit here. I'd call it the Blasphemous Fist? |
| Nived07-30-06, 04:13 AM | This might not be op'ed but flavorwise it may be what you're looking for. There's a feat tree in PHBII which allows you to cloak your fist in flame. use it and say you're uppercutting for his Gou Shoryuken. And there's a feat called Ki-Blast which is basically designed to be a Hadouken... or for Akuma his Gou Hadouken. For his Tatsumaki Zankuukyaku just use Flurry of Blows and say its a series of spin kicks. For his signature super move Shun Goku Satsu just use Quivering Palm... the effect is the same really. For the super versions of said special moves, just call it that when you roll a crit. |
| WoodFloor07-30-06, 02:19 PM | Reis' idea sounds pretty good.I also got a big kick out of Xaktsaroth's page of characters. Beast wars was an awesome cartoon. Now to look at feats. I like the fiery fist/ki blast/fiery defense. And also divine armor that are in PH 2. Any more thoughts on feats. Isn't there a super jumping one? That way he could jump in the air and shoot ki blasts. Would warlock be better than hexblade for the blastiness? |
| WoodFloor07-30-06, 07:28 PM | Monk Warlock/Hexblade Ur-priest Sacred Fist obviously human. I think I am gonna try to get feats that increase jumping and those fiery ki ones from PHII. I don't know how many levels to take of each I think start out with monk maybe like 5 levels, then either warlock or hexblade I don't know if warlock works in this build and I don't really know how many levels to take of each class since I don't have all the neccessary books in front of me at the moment. It doesn't seem like I will be able to take monk levels after I start to switch it up. So I have PH I and II and I can borrow complete warrior and complete divine and arcane. That is pretty much all I need right? This will take some fine tuning. Any suggestions on how many levels of each I should take? Can I fit warlock into this build or should I stick with hexblade for the unlucky stuff? I think most of the divine spells I will use to buff him up instead of damage or healing because akuma only heals himself and he is a beast in close combat so I would get spells that make him more akuma-like. more input would be appreciated |
| Surreal07-30-06, 07:59 PM | Akuma should actually have a pretty low Con score. In the majority of the games where he was a playable character, Akuma usually had obscene strength and speed, but was pretty frail. He would go down after a couple hits, assuming you weren't dead already. |
| reel_big_gish07-30-06, 10:05 PM | Shin Akuma Rokugan Ninja 3 / Monk 3 / Fist of Zuoken 9 / Telflammar Shadowlord 4 / Shiba Protector 1 S 16 D 13 +6 enhancement +5 inherent = 24 C 10 I 13 W 16 +6 enhancement +5 inherent +5 level = 32 Ch 8 Feats: Wild Talent (1st), Dodge (Rokugan ninja), Weapon Finesse (Human), Mobility (3rd), Spring Attack (6th), Blind-Fight (9th), Expanded Knowledge: Energy Ray (FoZ 5), Alertness (12th), Combat Expertise (15th), Iron Will (18th) Powers Known: Dimension Hop (1st), Vigor (1st), Primal Fear (1st), Hustle (2nd), Energy Emanation (2nd), Body Adjustment (2nd), Dissolving Touch (2nd), Dimension Slide (3rd), Psionic Dimension Door (4th), Equipment: Periapt of Wisdom +6, Monk's Belt, Torc of Power Preservation, Bracers of Armor +8, Gloves of Dexterity +6, Tome of Insight +5, Manual of Dexterity+5, Signature Moves Prefight Animation: Energy Emanation Hadouken: Energy Ray Hurricane Kicks: Augmented Psionic Lion's Charge Shoryuken: Augmented Dissolving Touch Shun Goku Satsu: Dimension Hop + Dimension Slide + Augmented Dimension Slide. It's 15 attacks, the magical number, and it averages 235 damage per round with a 50% hit rate. Finish it all by manifesting Primal Fear on your next round. Note: For those uncomfortable with Shiba Protector and Rokugan Ninja, drop Shiba Protector for another level of Fist of Zuoken or Shadowlord. Swap our Ninja for Sneak Attack Fighter, and exchange Weapon Finesse for Dodge. This leaves the feats from levels 12, 15, and 18 open. |
| WoodFloor07-30-06, 11:31 PM | cool...ummmm what are are those classes from? I'm familiar with the fist of zuoken but not the other ones. Unapproachable east maybe? is that 3.5? |
| reel_big_gish07-31-06, 07:22 AM | Ninja is from the Rokugan campaign setting. Even though it's 3rd party, a fair number of people incorporate it into their builds here. Telflammar Shadowlord is from Unapproachable East, which may or may not be 3.5. It came out right around the time of the transition, but again, UE seems to be used enough to consider it legitimate here. Shiba Protector is from Oriental Adventures. While it is 3.0, it was never updated to 3.5, so it should still be legal. |
| WoodFloor07-31-06, 08:35 AM | I'll have to check them out the build looks really interesting. Luckily my local library has a ton of D&D books. |
| Midnight_v07-31-06, 10:50 AM | With a monks belt and Improved unrmed strike. Take the mortal bane spell like ablility feat and when you get high enough level... There freezing the lifes blood. or something like that. The monk/warlock prestige class doesn't exist yet but ... It certainly could... |
