All around good stats [Archive] - Wizards Community

Most builds you see around here end up optimizing one or two stats above all the others. At high levels, it ends up fairly lopsided. A high level rogue might end up with a 30 dex while his other stats are average. I want to see if there's a character build that uses all the stats (not necessarily equally). I know paladin and monk can be stat intensive, but they have their dump stats and their stats that you optimize above all others. I want to see a build that would be truly happy with 18s across the board and have good uses for each one of those stats.

The best I could think up without my books was something like hexblade 10/chameleon 10. When you're emulating a wizard or cleric, you've got a use for the high int and wisdom. A good constitution and dexterity is always good, especially if you can't wear all the heavy armor. Charisma helps hexblade and chances are you'll be some kind of gish or fighter/cleric most of the time, so strength helps.

Nah, a chameleon never needs good physical stats: Polymorph, baby!!!

I'd claim it can't be done. Why? Because no one is going to have all 18s in a real game, so the designers made it such that every class has at least one dump stat. Playing anything that screws this up tends to be suboptimal.

Now you could play a monk/wizard Enlightened Fist, except you probably still take Kungfu Genius because you'll be pumping your int the most. But you still get the wis on spot and listen and will saves. Thats the closest i can get to using all stats. Oh yeah, and there's still polymorph. So you need a character with no access to polymorph...

Cleric Monk with Divine Metamagic abuse? Everyone likes more skills/level, right?

the trick is combining different core- and prestigeclasses together. i often have builds suffering from MAD, but more by accident or because i love the special abilities.

first, lets make a fighter-typed character. given are: str and con. now lets make him medium armored (mithral heavy) so dex comes into consideration.
give him some swashbuckler-levels and some skills and voila, a decent int would be nice. variant paladin and maybe marshal for a dip and there comes your charisma.
left in wisdom. hmm, you really dont want a dumpstat, maybe advance as a secondary caster, but as it stands i would just leave it. or you could target windwalker (F&P) for full bab, nice abilities and clerical casting :-)

a base would be: swashbuckler3/barbarian1/fighter2/(freedom-)paladin2/marshal2
excellent levels, all give something useful. and you can advance whatever PrC you like. if you really want to go windwalker straighten it up a bit and dip into ranger for a level.

i played a similar build, very good for a medium level campain and full power from the start. at later levels it depends on the PrCs you choose, in my opinion there are not many that are good enough to seriously cut class-benefits by straightening the build.

i prefer specializing on trip with this build as you can go with wolf berserker/improved trip and the art of war aura of the marshal (cha to trip etc)

occult slayer is also a decent way, focussing on the anti-magic aspect via reach-weapon, mage slayer and high saves (paladin)

i'll play a similar build in the upcoming CO-campaign on the boards btw, so thats not just theory...
