| Sir Gummibaerchen11-21-06, 12:38 PM | All WizOs close plz!!!!oneoneeleven! Seriously dude WTF? Generic classes have been discussed to death when UA was actually new, AFAIK. So is there any deeper meaning to your thread? Or do you just want to scream "lookit me somebody plz". And why do I feed the troll? Questions, so many questions... |

Let's not toss around the word troll. If his point has been discussed before then simply tell him, no need for insults. |
| Morlachmir11-21-06, 01:15 PM | I've never seen any posts dealing with the generic classes presented on page 76. I wanted to "fuel the fire" of recreational CharOp-ing. Those three classes have incredible potential for virtually any build you can think of, and I was hoping to introduce or refresh people's memories to them. Think of it as a Public Service Announcement. |

Think of it as a Public Service Announcement. The reason you never see it is simple. Read. It specifically says that you should only use those classes when you won't use any other base class. While this may seem simple, it is still very unpractical and I've yet to see any DM that allows them. -=TD=- |
| rilem11-21-06, 01:27 PM | Right, the generic classes are only used in generic campaigns -- which almost nobody uses. Now, the generic spellcaster is sometimes offered up as a quick way into Arcane Trickster — but to use that, you've got to convince the other five people at your gaming table to throw away their PCs and use generic ones. Not gonna happen. That's why you don't see them mentioned much. |

Think of it as a Public Service Announcement. Now THAT'S what I call an appropiate post. I can see where you are coming from, but the need for generic classes is almost zero IMO, because whatever they can, a specific class can do better. UA itself gives some houserules that make the generic classes less useful (like the Sneak Attack Fighter variant). The most interesting property of the generic classes is the ability to customize your class skill list. Which is something a paragon class can do as well. So what is left are three rather bland classes with abilities from the PHB. |
