I might be able to get allowed the Arcane archer class so that the Warlock's invocations and blasts can work as though equivalent level spells due to a ruling of my DM in a game. (it also works well for an elven vengence concept)

We tend to play at about 10th level, so I will be effectively restricted to one feat (since you have to be elven and it takes 3 feats to become an AA by level 8). However, this allows you to combine the eldrich blast with Imbue Arrow, let alone other tricks. I just want to see what everyone can come up with for fun ways of using this combo. I have a couple, but I want to find out what everyone can think up. :dancin:

Okay, I will shamelessly bump to make sure people actually see this thread. :bump:

Get the Flee the Scene invocation, and use it on others. This has enough variations to make it all too useful for just about any situation. Assuming that the will save will be missed (common for most grunts) we could have a scene like this:

Two burly ogres guard a doorway. You Fade from View and Flee the scene to get close (you aren't moving, so you get a great bonus on move silently and leave no tracks). You fire at ogre A, transporting him above ogre B. You can use the illusion to draw his attention somehow, and they go crash. Call that surprise. Next round you shoot ogre B (on the bottom) and have him fall on ogre A. Start taunting (free action) and move away. When they get on their feet and start getting to you, you can flee behind them (using your illusion to keep running). Then you are free to show your party rogue the door, while the ogres try and find an invisible creature 120' away with half hit points. The variations to this could be disgusting, as you are no longer restricted to using high level spell slots to pull this sort of thing.

Any other ideas?

Well, assuming your DM allows this, and assuming Flee the Scene is the Dimension Door invocation, why not make them appear underground or very high in the air. Either way they take 1d6 per 10' they have to move to get to normal land.

Even if you can combine Warlock and Arcane Archer, it's not a good idea because the Imbue Arrow ability only works with area spells.

Examples include Antimagic Field, Wall of Fire, Prismatic Sphere, Acid Fog and the good old Fireball.

Flee the Scene is not a valid combo with AA.

The class that you want is Spell Sword... and replace 'sword' with bow for a Spell Bow (check the adaption rules).

Disclaimer: I'm saying all this without my books at the moment so I may be wrong.

You can't make yourself a "Spellbow" without the DM rule 0-ing it, I'm afraid. Channel Spell only works on melee weapons, so legally you could only manage it if you were a really good dagger thrower. Besides, the advantage of using a Warlock is their unlimited spells per day, and Channel Spell works 5/day at best.

This isn't to say that a Warlock/Arcane Archer isn't viable. Imbue spell only works with area spells, but otherwise useless invocations like Eldritch Cone makes your Blast qualify. Imagine a Warlock Archer sniping far off opponents with Utterdark Eldritch Cones, using his various mobility invocations to stay far out of harm's way.

I missed the area affect thing. I should have been suspicious when I realized nobody thought of that trick just using Ddoor spells. Ah well. I know there should be ways of using this ruling that spells and spell like abilities of the warlock are interchangable for prestige class requirements. There are more efficient ways of unloading a nuke from range if that was what I was after. Just check the thread that's being used now.

Bard 8 / Arcane Archer 2 / Sublime Chord 2 / Eldritch Knight 8
In my opinion, you should try this one.
Caster Level: 17 (20 with Practiced Spellcaster)
BAB: + 17 / + 12 / + 7 / + 2
Can cast spontaneously one 9th level spell, two 8th level spells, three 7th level spells, four 6th, 5th and 4th level spells, one 3rd level spell, three 2nd level spells, three 1st level spells and three cantrips per day.
Gets Bardic Music, Bardic Knowledge, Countersong, Fascinate, Inspire Courage (+2), Inspire Competence, Suggestion and the Song of Arcane Power.
Can use his Bardic Music 9 times per day.
In my opinion, it's a very good character.

If you have access to Unearthed Arcana, and your DM allows it, you could try:

Battle Sorcerer 8 / Arcane Archer 2 / Eldritch Knight 10
Caster Level: 18 (20 with Practiced Spellcaster)
BAB: +18 / + 13 / + 8 / + 3
Can cast spontaneously up to two 9th level and four 8th level spells per day.
Knows no 9th level spells (only bonus ones derived from a high Charisma score), one 8th level spell, two 6th and 7th level spells, three 5th, 4th and 3rd level spells, four 2nd and 1st level spells and eight cantrips.

If you want to go melee sometimes, take Weapon Finesse, Snowflake Wardance (this works only with the first build) and Arcane Strike (which you can't use with your bow).
This character can do just about everything: fight from great distances, be a melee damage dealer or a good spellcaster.
In fact, this is a perfect caster killer: shoot an Antimagic Field Arrow at your enemy and then kill him with your bow.
