Any way (outside of race, but including templates) to get Trackless Step outside of Druid 3? Anything?

If so, leave a post with the source... thanks!

Doesn't the Scout (CV) get it?

Justice of Weald and Woe (Champions of Ruin) grants Trackless Step at 4th level.

Yes, the Scout gets it at Level 3.

Are you asking for PrCs also? Or just base classes. Just asking...

Why else? :P

Anything that isn't a race I'll take.

Boots of "Pass Without Trace?"

Ranger levels and use of "Pass Without Trace" as a spell?

Dust of Disappearance?

They're not quite the same but are pretty darn close.

No, it needs to be permanent... I should have specified no temporary effects, sorry.

Wildrunner PrC from Races of the Wild gets it at level 1. On the downside, you need a ton of skills and the endurance feat.

But that's elf or half-elf only, and so is sort of a race...

Why wouldn't you want to get in as a druid?

The forest gnome (MMI) gets Pass without Trace at will if that helps you.

Because my alignment can't have any neutrals in it. Long story.

Scout 3 should work for now... and thanks for the ideas, but it can't have ANYTHING to do with race, and it has to be Trackless Step.

wildrunner is a good class imo, and easy for a ranger to get into, hardest skill req is 8 in survival, which isnt hard you know, if you are a ranger with woodland skills :) You also get fast movement and other goodies at lvl 1 or the prc

A cleric with the Travel domain also has Survival as a class skill, and afaik you can progress clerical casting with Arcane Hierophant. If you can build it, (Arcane Caster X) / Cleric X / Wildrunner 1 / Beastmaster 1 would get you the animal companion, divine and arcane casting, and Trackless Step.

I don't think this build is going to come out anywhere near as optimal as a druid would, though. You're dropping two divine caster levels right off the bat.

If you go Ranger/Wildrunner, you should definately take wild shape variant ranger from Unearthed arcana, so Arcane hierophant does not have to loose one of its good abilities.

If you can use precocious apprentice to get 2nd level arcane spells, half-elven Wizard 2/Cleric 3/Wild shaping ranger 5/Wildrunner 1/Beastmaster 1/Arcane hierophant 8 is a fun and flavourful build with lots of synergy. Or if you want to be an elf, go Wizard 1/Cleric 4 instead.

BAB 16, 5th level arcane spells, 6th level divine spells, wild shape as level 13 druid (though small and medium sized animals only), base speed 50ft, good skills, companion familiar, cast in light armor, very good saves.

And the only feat required is Skill focus (Handle animal). Skill requirements are easy too, especially as you probably have a good intelligence for wizard casting. It suffers slightly from MAD, but not that much, as you can wild shape.

If you can't use precocious apprentice, you have to take wizard to level 3 at the expense of getting only Arcane hierophant to level 7, and in the process loose a point of BAB, 6th level divine spells and one level of wild shape (which isn't much, as you can only turn into small or medium animals).

Edit 1: Half-elven Wizard 2/Cleric 1/Wild shaping ranger 5/Ruathar 3/Wildrunner 1/Beastmaster 1/Arcane hierophant 7, with Ruathar progressing one level of Wizard and one level of Cleric casting, is a slightly better option, if you can't use PA.

Edit 2: Damn I'm stupid, I forgot that ranger gets animal companion at level 4, so you don't need that level of Beastmaster. Hmm, it does make your companion familiar a lot better though.

Edit 3: Oh, and these builds assume you need to have wild shape already to get an increase to it from Arcane hierophant. Has it yet been ruled whether you do or do not get wild shape from Arcane hierophant if you do not already have it? If you do, I can make this build even better.

Er... none of this is really what I want. I have an intitial build in mind, and I'm probably gonna post it tonight... I'll put a link here when I do. (I'm not gonna say exactly what untill I post it, because I'm paranoid. So there.)
