The hexblade thread got me thinking about the idea of the amoral hero, one who uses unbelievably draconian, ruthless, and pitiless means to do things that are normally considered good. For those that have watched "The Shield" I'm essentially talking about a fantasy Vic Mackey, here. Now the roleplaying aspects aren't really an issue on these boards, but the build is.

The character shouldn't be EVIL, but he sure ain't GOOD, either. I was thinking True Neutral or Lawful Neutral would probably be best for such an individual.

Race: Tiefling (yes, DESPITE the charisma penalty, use it. It's just too tempting, flavor-wise.)

I see a couple of interesting possibilities, but my favorite so far is this: Enforcer 5 (dragon 310)/Sorcerer 4/Spellsword 6/Mindspy 5

This won't probably be the most DEADLY pc you'll ever see fielded, but it's sure intimidating...

For that cohort, take a similarly-minded urban ranger. (The Shane Vendrell to your Vic Mackey)
