An Aasimar character I thought might be interesting. [Archive] - Wizards Community

I've been thinking about Aasimar and about how everyone always plays them as dramatic paladins and whatnot, so decided to throw one into the mix with my group that's Neutral Good or even better, Chaotic Good. I'm picturing him as a flying character, who sort of likes to joke around while he's flying circles around monsters' heads.

I've got two methods of getting wings. The first is by taking Celestial Bloodline at first level, and Outsider Wings at third level. I'd like to have perfect manuverability (which I've played briefly before as an NPC and found that it's awesome) so I'd have to take Improved Flight twice.

The second way is to take three levels of the Half-Celestial class. Aasimars only have to take three levels to get the template instead of four. I'd get wings one level later than the first method and take a major hit to BAB and saves, but on the flipside these wings allow you to fly at twice your normal speed (the other wings are at your normal speed) and these start you off with good manuverability. So this saves me a feat, too.

If someone would help me work out the pros and cons, it'd help. They both seem to have their good points, and their not so good points.

After that, I really don't know what to do with him. I can't play him as an Assassin, but that doesn't mean I can't play him as an assassin, if you catch my drift. The other main option I've been considering is an Eldritch Knight or some such, and using my flight to abuse the hell out of Extend Spell.

Any thoughts would be helpful.

Anyway, as for your build: Try Aasimar/White Dragon Spawn..you get wings/natural armor/other tidbits from dragon spawn/AND cast as a first level sorc (for a tid bit of little spells..for LA +2 after assimair (alot better than LA +4 after aasimar and half celestial..)

White Dragon Spawn is in the Dragonlance Campaign Setting but it's widely accepted as a template around here..

If you want to play him as a noble assassin, then have a look at the Slayer of Domiel from BoED. Basically the Assassin rewritten for Good characters.

MasterSword,

What level are you starting at? That's a major determining factor when choosing templates with a hefty ECL adjustment.

Also, what sourcebooks do you have access to?

Sorry for the lack of clarity on that subject. The books I have are as follows:

Arms and Equipment Guide
Book of Vile Darkness
Defenders of the Faith
Deities and Demigods
Dungeon Master's Guide
Epic Level Handbook
Faiths and Pantheons
Fiend Folio
Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting
Lords of Darkness
Magic of Faerun
Manual of the Planes
Masters of the Wild
Monster Manual
Monster Manual 2
Monsters of Faerun
Oriental Adventures
Player's Handbook
Psionics Handbook
Races of Faerun
Savage Species
Silver Marches
Song and Silence
Stronghold Builder's Guide
Sword and Fist
Tome and Blood
Unapproachable East

Out of date, I know. The campaign is 3.5, but we can use 3.0 PrCs.

Edit: We're starting at level 1. I'm just taking the +1 LA of an Aasimar instead of a class level to begin with.

I didn't think you could do that with races without racial hit dice (in that they gain all their hit dice from class levels)...

I don't know if it's a house rule or not, but I know I'm allowed to do that.
