| Nitneuq Onitnarat04-17-05, 06:19 PM | Whats the lowest level (or lowest ECL if your going down the monster route) at which you can attack, and deal every different dice of damage. Go for 1+1d2+1d3+1d4+1d6+1d8+1d10+1d12+1d20 damage, If thats not possible, then how many dice can you get into the same attack? My 12 second, lazy-ass, attempt: a critical hit from a guy with a vile, flaming burst frost longsword deals 1+1d6+1d8+1d10, 1 Vile damage, 1d6 frost, 1d10 fire and 1d8 longsword. |
| Lilt04-17-05, 06:52 PM | Do you count attacks against specific creature types? IE: Sanctify Martial Strike adds 1 against evil creatures and 1d4 against evil outsiders. Is that valid, or does it have to be generally useable against most enemies? (defined as useable unless they're immune like undead are to crits) |
| Lilt04-17-05, 07:10 PM | Meta-Items: Dice besides base weapons: 1: Sanctify Martial Strike Vs Evil (not outsider or undead) (BoED), Stregth 12-13 d2: ? d3: Spell-storing -> Acid Splash or Ray of Frost (DMG/PHB) d4: Arcane Strike (CW) d6: Sneak Attack, Energy Damage, easy enough d8: Exalted Strike (BoED), Spell Storing -> Inflict Light Wounds (DMG/PHB), Ranged Precision (OotBI, CW), Powerful Charge (Eberron) d10: Burst Weapons (DMG) d12: Flying Kick Feat (CW) d20: ? (Spell-storing Dance of Ruin (BoVD) modified from a burst to a target?) Weapons: The weapon can only deal one type of damage, so a good idea would be to fill-up the dice besides weapons before pickig the weapon type as weapon type is no real mystery (with the exception of the D20). For the sake of it I'll give examples: 1 Unarmed Strike of a non-monk Reduce personed Halfling 2 Unarmed Strike of a non-monk halfling 3 Shiruken or Unarmed Strike of a human 4 Dagger 6 Club 8 Longsword 10 Greatclub 12 Greataxe 20 ? |
| Tempest Stormwind04-17-05, 07:51 PM | The Flying Kick feat adds +1d12 on any unarmed charge. It's looking more and more like an unarmed kensai would be our best bet here, but probably without any monk levels, and maybe an arcane level or two in there. I don't know of anything in 3.5 that does d20s in damage. For that matter, there also exist d30s and d%s, so it's not like you do every die type in damage. .... Actually, wait a minute. There's a bardic prestige class in Frostburn that has a blast ability at low levels that does damage equal to its Perform check -- which is a d20. The downside is that I doubt it can be combined with anything else, and I don't have access to my copy of Frostburn until a friend gets back home from college. |
| Gargs45404-17-05, 08:51 PM | Hmmm let's see here. *Caveat* I don't have all my books with me, so I don't recall all of the necessary pre-reqs. If we go with a Kensai/Monk combo we can get: 1: 12 Str for +1 d2: Shuriken d3: Spell Storing (Ray of Frost) on second weapon d4: Sai Damage d6: Energy Bonus on Weapon d8: Spell Storing (Inflict Light Wounds) on a Sai d10: Monk Unarmed Damage (level to get this varies with items) d12: Flying Kick d20: No clue Can get this in one round (not sure if you meant just one attack or just different attacks) if: 1. Charge with a Flying Kick 2. You have Combat Reflexes and Dex at least 16 3. 3 opponents give you AoO's Might be able to use Burst Property with Kensai to get the d10 and with the right items make the monk Unarmed Dmg d12, in which case you could just do it with a flurry. Flurry would go: Shuriken, Sai, Sai, Unarmed. Not sure if you can put spell storing on a Shuriken, or store two spells on one weapon as I am shooting off the top of my head here. If not, then you could make one of the Sai attacks against a Small creature for the d3. |
| Lilt04-17-05, 09:28 PM | Good call on the flying kick, I added that to the meta-items. Are there any low-power weapon enhancements that do +d3 or d2 to damage? The only one I can think of is Spell-Storing -> Acid Splash or similar which seems a waste but it's legal. (Gargs454 beat me to the post on that one) Ah: Sacred Strike (BoED) lets our character roll D8s for sneak-attack rather than D6s so we're no-longer tied to Spell Storing for the d8 (just in-case you're only allowed 1 copy of a special ability on each weapon). So we're on level 12 Halfling Rogue 1/ Fighter 4 / Wizard 5 / X 2 1: Sacred Strike 2: Weapon Focus (Unarmed strike) 3: Exalted Martial Strike, Power attack 5: Improved Unarmed Strike 6: Flying Kick 9: Sacred Strike 12: Arcane Strike Wearing a +1 Flaming Burst Spell-Storing Amulet of Mighty Fists. (Priced as a +5 for 96k, which he won't be able to afford for a level or so yet). This deals everything from d1s to d12s and requires the character to roll and confirm a critical whilst sneak-attacking an evil creature with an arcane-strike-augmented unarmed charge (and decide to let-off the ray of frost or acid splash in his amulet). Can we have some clarification on the goal? Does it need to be in a single attack or can it be as an attack routine where multiple weapons might be employed? |

If not, then you could make one of the Sai attacks against a Small creature for the d3. You can get the d8 from Powerful Charge, a feat in Eberron (amongst other places) that adds the equivalent of a longsword's damage to your charge (so a medium charger gets a d8, while a large one 2d6. There's a Greater version of the feat that lets you count as one size larger, should we use a halfling). This means you don't need a second spellstoring weapon. Furthermore, there are methods of full-attack charging available to PCs. One of these could allow for all of these various methods on one ROUND... if not one attack. You could ditch the energy ability on the weapon and instead go with sneak attack, skirmish, or iaijutsu focus for bonus dice, if you'd rather not use Kensai. In fact, this suggests to me a halfling monk with the racial sub level that replaces Flurry with Skirmish. Just one level of halfling monk gets you d4 (fist) and d6 (skirmish). You get the 1 from a 12 strength, the d8 from Greater Powerful Charge, the d12 from Flying Kick. This leaves us with d2, d3, d10. I'm positive I've seen methods of dealing an extra minor die of damage somehow (was it moon-ivy armor? I think it was relatively mundane in the A&EG somewhere), but the d10 eludes me without a critical hit and, yes, you guessed it, kensai levels (for any of the Burst abilities). |
| |)ar|{04-17-05, 11:04 PM | umm druid wildshape... shift away to the different damage types. Done |
| PhaedrusXY04-17-05, 11:38 PM | This isn't with one attack, but it can all be made during a charge. monk6/ShouDisciple5/SinghRager4 with: 1) Quickdraw, 2) a Monk's Belt and Tattoo, 3) Str 12, 4) Flying Kick, 5) A flaming burst longsword, 6) some normal sized shuriken, 7) some shuriken sized for small creatures, and 8) a dagger. ;) Charge and make a flurry (full attack on a charge via Singh4): Unarmed damage 2d10 (closest you can get to d20 that I know of) Flying Kick +1d12 Shuriken 1d3 Small Shuriken 1d2 Flaming Longsword: 1d8 +1d6 +1d10 (on a crit) Dagger 1d4 You need to make 5 attacks with 5 different weapons, but you can because you can make five attacks with your flurry of blows, and can do so with any weapon, and you have Quickdraw. This assumes Shou Disciple stacks for flurry of blows. If you don't allow that, take the Two Weapon Fighting feats. So, in summary: +1 Str +1d2 Small Shuriken +1d3 Medium Shuriken +1d4 Dagger +1d6 Flaming (Longsword) +1d8 Longsword +1d10 Flaming Burst (Longsword) +1d12 Flying Kick +2d10 (d20) Unarmed |
| Lilt04-18-05, 07:06 AM | 11th level spending an additional 396xp on enhancing his foot through Kensai. Strongheart Halfling Rogue 1,Fighter 2/Wizard 4/Spellsword 1/Kensai 3 Feats: 1: Exalted Strike, Improved unarmed Strike, 2: Power Attack, 3: Flying Kick, Combat Expertise, 6: Weapon Focus (Unarmed Strike) 9: Arcane Strike Equipment: 66k to spend. nessecary item: Amulet of Mighty Fists (+1 spell-storing), 24k Enhancing foot to become +1 Flaming Burst 1: Strength 13 (or +1 weapon) d2: Small creature's unarmed strike d3: Spell Storing (Ray of Frost) d4: Arcane Strike d6: Flaming d8: Exalted Strike (Sneak attack to D8) d10: Flaming Burst Critical d12: Flying Kick OK. Here's an 11th level character who's not busting the bank to do everything from 1 to d12 on an attack. Technically he actually gets +2 to damage (Strength 13 and a +1 weapon) but I don't think we're discounting multiples, are we? I'd also question wether or not there realy is such a thing as a d1, but that's another matter. If strength bonus or enhancement bonuses don't count as D1s then the build takes another level of Kensai, makes his foot spell-storing, and takes the Exalted Martial Strike feat as his 12th level feat. |
