OK, so here is the situation....

I play in a fairly high powered campaign. I want to make an item creation character just for the fun of it, who can make and use just about any piece of magical equipiment in the game and still be able to do something useful in combat from time to time.

My current plan is to use the following build:
levels 1 - 5:Wizard (one metamagic and Iron Will at first level here)
6 - 10 :Incantrix
11: Cleric (planning and travel domains)
12: Incantrix
13:Lore Master (with a skill focus picked up as the 12th level feat)
14-17 : Incantrix
18-19: Lore Master
20: ? but probably wizard to gain the extra +1 to all saves and BAB at 6th level before epic restrictions apply.

The character is a human, but if there are any better suggestions in the build this is open to change.
The first Lore Master level occurs at 13th level. This is because at this point I have a CL of 12 - required for forge ring. I use a stat item and a base Int of 16 + level adjustments to gain the bonus feat from the secrets.
The planning domain gives extend spell as a bonus feat.

There are a few more points:
1: I need a level of divine caster that gets most of the cure spells, neutralize poison, remove desease and at least lesser restoration on their spell lists before 12th level. This is because that is the likely level of introduction in the campaign and I need to have already been able to craft wands with divine spells before this time.

2: I don't care at all about brew potion. Craft Rod is a low priority but the rest of the core craft feats are open slather.

3: I am free to use any suppliment except FR stuff (obvious exception of Incantrix) other than some of the general feats there (including Magical Artisan which this example character picks up at 6th level) and OA. Only WotC material though, so no third party.

4: I figure that an arcane caster is best for this since Limited Wish is so good for item creation. MT makes aquiring the craft feats difficult due to a low CL. If you think otherwise then let me know.

5: I don't like having an XP penalty on my character sheet staring me in the face :P

Cheers and thanks for the brainstorming in advance.

Hello,
probably a Mystic Theurge could be better in crafting.

If you start with 12 levels

Cleric 3 / Wizard 3 / Mystic Theurge 6
you can craft a lot of items and can cast 5. level spells.

try a sorcerer/mage of the arcane order/techsmith. hard to get better spells and crafting abilities without sacrificing too much...

try a sorcerer/mage of the arcane order/techsmith. hard to get better spells and crafting abilities without sacrificing too much... Like I said - it's hard to qualify for the item creation feats with a MT. You only have a caster level or three at 6th level, six at 9th level.....

It means you can get the feats but you do so too slowely to base a character around the idea of item creation. Remember that for rings, wonderous items, rods, and either armour or weapons you can use Limited Wish to simulate spells you can't normally cast and it costs no XP on the crafters part.

try a sorcerer/mage of the arcane order/techsmith. hard to get better spells and crafting abilities without sacrificing too much... The Techsmith is from FR and so is out right there. The MotAO is an option - and spell pool is certainly good for item creation. I think the Incantrix is still better overall since its requirements don't suck nuts, you get an extra metamagic feat over the MotAO (research breakthroughs have to be metamagic, don't ask me why...) and a couple of other useful things like being immune to death effects and metamagic reduction (Ah, wands of Maximised Empowered Magic Missile).

Are there no more ideas out there?

Wizard 5/Cleric 2/Loremaster 1(Clc)/Mystic Theurge 10/Loremaster +2 (Wiz)

Make sure you take the Plant Domain for the Cleric for those Natural Armor amulets. You will want enough Int to qualify for the Bonus feat secret at 8th. If your GM allows FR feats, take Magical Artisan for your most used Item Creation feats (likely to be Craft arms and armor and craft wonderous item).
