An good PrC for the Healer? [Archive] - Wizards Community

In our current campaign I'm going to play a Healer (from Miniature's Handbook). I really like the flair of this class and want to combine it with Vow of Poverty. Yet I can't seem to find any good prestige classes... Apart from Mystic Wanderer that is - I'm planning for a 1-level-dip in this class.
Though I like the flavor of the healer base class, its' benefits are not that spectacular on the long term, so what good PrC could I shoot for?
Emphasis lies on improvement of defense (own and "maybe" others) and optimizing the healing capability, speaking of hp healed per spell.

05-23-05, 05:44 PM If you dip into monk then The Sacred fist from Complete Divine might be a valid option.

05-24-05, 08:02 AM I dont se how sacred fist and monk is going to improve his healing potential, besides he would loose way to many caster levels for that to be a good trade of if its becourse of the extra defense "WIS to AC"...

No... Be a good old cleric of Pelor, then go into radient servant of palor or something like that... its in the Complete Divine..

Put in the sun domain, and you got all the undead instakill you want, plus maximized and empowered healing, and full caster progression... so all tho old cheese is still in there....

05-24-05, 08:18 AM There really are no good combinations for the Healer. It is generally assumed that the Healer is just a gimped Cleric. Even the Favored Soul gets more respect. The healer just doesnt gain any decent abilities compared to the Cleric. You can still run a cleric specialized in healing by taking the healing domain.

You can further focus on healing with feats such as:
Domain Focus (Healing) = +1 Caster Level
Domain Spontineity = Spend a Turn/Rebuke to cast a domain spell
Sacred Healing = Spend a Turn to grant Fast Healing 3
Divine Spell Power = Spend a Turn/Rebuke for +1 Caster Level
Maximize Spell
Empower Spell

As for cleric builds, there are tons on the boards. Just pick one to your liking. Honestly, the healer may look cool at first glance, but I would strongly advise against it.

05-24-05, 11:48 AM They do Heal better than anyone else (with spells).
Also the Quetzcoatl 18th lvel Sorcerer companion is nothing to sneeze at either, and neither is the Unicorn you get at 8th level.

Really the best PrC for the Healer is the Healer base class.
