| Germytech05-11-06, 02:39 PM | If you do not mind, I would like a little help with a twenty-level progression of a character not optimized for combat, but optimized to reflect a specific character concept. The idea is this: a diviner/seer type of character with a heightened awareness of his surroundings. Spells will focus on the manipulation of space and time: divinations, (teleportation), telekinesis spells, and [force] effects. Sources: Anything WotC and Dragon, but nothing extreme. Here are some ideas for the mechanics. Sorcerer, with possibly Divine Oracle and Archmage (for spell-like abilities and arcane fire) Dragon #343 Class Acts: variant feat that allows a sorcerer to choose a clerical domain. Gains the special ability and can add one spell from the domain to the spells known list once per day. (This gives the sorcerer all Knowledge skills as class skills, making it easier to enter thhttp://boards1.wizards.com/newthread.php?do=newthread&f=339e aforementioned prestige classes) Dragon #3XX Staffs of Power: Replaces familiar. I like the concept. My main issue is how to best develop the spell selection, when would be the best times to take what class, and how to equip the character to take advantage of the strengths and shore up the weaknesses. Who would like to try to optimize this concept? |
| hogarth05-11-06, 03:06 PM | I would recommend a Psion (Seer); they get access to interesting divination-type powers (Clairvoyant Sense, Object Reading, Sensitivity to Psychic Impressions, Remote Viewing, Clairtangent Hand, Hypercognition, Metafaculty) and psions have the time control (Time Hop, Temporal Acceleration), teleportation (Psionic Dimension Door, Psionic (Greater) Teleport) and telekinesis (Telekinetic Force/Maneuver/Thrust) areas covered. There aren't that many psionic force effects (maybe you could settle for Crystal Shard/Swarm of Crystals instead) and you'd have to settle for a psicrystal instead of a staff familiar, though. Either Psion 20 or Psion 10/Anarchic Initiate 10 would be good classes to take. |

| Germytech05-11-06, 04:42 PM | I was definitely contemplating a Psion (Seer). I do not have much experience with it, and so was leaning more toward the sorcerer, but I am open to suggestions. What might be some good prestige classes for a psionic seer that would enhance divinations? Also, suggestions for magical equipment would be helpful, as well. |
| Dark_and_Stormy05-11-06, 08:05 PM | For those who absolutely NEED to see everything.... Robe of Eyes. ;) Sorry I can't be more helpful, but Psionics, they just ain't my thing, y'know? Caster? Wizard5/Divine Oracle10/Archmage5 is a very simple build that remains strong to your concept... |

It gets a bunch of cool void, I see everything powers, a psion (seer)7/void master (converted to allow psionic) would be ideal. Attack someone a world away! Also burrowing power(metapsionics) is a must. It allows you to ignore line of effect. With cliarvonic sense and burrowing power you can cause all kinds of mayhem, add the void master benifits and a have professor X shaping world events in his living room. ;) Gruffmug |

If you could convert it to a psionic PrC, that would be quite interesting (note that almost all psionic prestige classes lose manifester levels except for Anarchic Initiate, so it's still relatively competitive).
