A new game's started up and I've decided to play a warforged cloistered cleric heading towards the void disciple PrC from Complete Divine. The crux of the problem, however, is that I'll be playing as the recurring nemesis in the game, and the DM has asked the players to make their PCs as powerful as possible. While my character concept lends to an unusual form of villiany, both the cloistered cleric and void disciple aren't very potent when I'm on my own.

Here's what I've got to work with:

Starting Level: 7th. All seven levels have been invested in cloistered cleric, and the next thirteen (if I make it through them) will be void disciple

Starting Abilities: 12, 13, 15, 15, 16, and 18. They're pretty high, yes, but stat generation was 5d6 for each.

Feats: I've got three feats to choose, and two have to be Spell Penetration and Heighten Spell.

Domains: I'm not entirely sure for this, but I was thinking Mind and Oracle.

Starting Gold: Standard 19,000 gp.

Any suggestions?

Remember, as a void disciple, you have access to every feat in existence, including epic feats. That's your real strength.

How can you be playing a reaccuring villian as a PC, anyways?

The void disciple is great, yes, but there are two things you have to remember: I'm not a void disciple yet, and I'm all on my own. Aside from maybe a few minions, I don't have the advantage of fellow adventurers to help me out.

I'm not a PC as such. The campaign is very complex, in regards to the fact that the PCs are trying to start up their own dragonmark house and pretty near every other house is trying to get rid of them. I'll be a different kind of character in that I won't know everything that's going on but will be trying to take down the PCs as well.

As a void disciple, you should be able to know what they are doing... you can see everything within 1000 miles of you, remember?

Anyways, is this going to be a 1v4 (or more) fight, or will you have minions helping you? If you have minions helping you, do you get to select them or will the DM supply them?

If you can select your own minions, what are the limits to what you can select?

Go Cloistered Cleric 5 / Divine Oracle 2, divine oracle fits the flavor well enough and it's a small power boost.

One versus five, actually, though the others are a bit lower in level than I. There'll probably me some minions, but the DM will provide them and I really don't know just where I'll be in the world. Divine oracle sounds good, and it takes up the remaining feat slot.

Unless the PCs are using undead, take the "Living Faith" flaw (recent Dragon Magazine) to give up turn/rebuke undead and give yourself an extra feat. Might be another one good usable by clerics in there as well.

The assumption of certain character types has been problematic for me recently: Taking the characters through Grasp of the Emerald Claw, and they face a Bodak. Bodak is baffled by the Wight in the party, since it assumes all undead would join the undead faction; also not sure how to get past him to kill the rest of the party, since Bodaks are fairly stupid, low attack bonus, and the death gaze didn't work on the wight boy at all.

Useful notes in certain adventures about what to do with more adventurers than usual, fewer than usual, flyers, magic-heavy, or sword heavy.

Don't give up turn undead. It's the power source for Divine Metamagic, which makes you really powerful.

Warforged Cleric 7

Str 15
Dex 12
Con 18 (16+2racial)
Int 13
Wis 16 (18-2racial)
Cha 14 (15-2racial+1level)

Cleric 1 Unarmored Body
Cleric 3 Heighten Spell
Cleric 6 Spell Penetration
VD 2 - Leadership!

This build is starved for feats. It's a shame that you can't be a human, since you could wear normal armor and not take the hits to your two primary stats. Oh well.....

Using lots of divinations all the time, especially Scry, make sure that you can avoid/foil the plans of the PCs as much as possible. Once you can get leadership, get yourself a good bodyguard. Don't be afraid to use Summon Monster as much as possible, you're going to need meatshields between yourself and the party.

Also, beware of the fact that if it's you and the other players, sitting around the table, and you manage to kill one/all of them, they will make it their mission to destroy you. Remember, you aren't a machination of the DM, you're a person that the other players can see and hear, and they will target you as an enemy preferentially.

The Unarmored Body feat will allow you to heal yourself 100% with your own spell, and wear normal armor. Spend as much money as you can on wisdom and charisma bump items.
