Depends on what you want to do. I mean, rogues have UMD. Really, the key to rogues is skill abuse. I mean, there are a number of ideas on this board for rogue skills: Get diplomacy to +150 and you can instantly convert anything to a fanatical follower (i'm sure its doable), get sleight of hand high enough, and you can steal all an opponent's gear as free actions.... Yes, even the weapon he's wielding. And UMD abuse. Straight rogues have a lot going for them.

If you're DM is using Iaijutsu focus, you might consider finding a way to get that in-class, and max that as well. Then with spring attack you can make one attack that does +nd6 SA +md6 iaijutsu and not be anywhere near them on their turn.

And rogues can/will have defensive roll and improved evasion to take some of the great epic feats, like epic dodge. Alternatively, 5 levels of thief acrobat gives you both. :uh-huh: Basically, think of Thief-acrobat as the 5-level epic prestige class that just about everyone takes because of its specials... its not really an epic prestige class, but its not something most people would take pre-epic, and almost everyone should take in epic.
