| Enoch Van Garret05-14-05, 12:14 PM | Did anyone archive it? It seems to have vanished. |
| Interested205-14-05, 12:44 PM | I didn't archive it, but the basic idea was to get a spit attack and then grab an item of admixed venomfire. |
| Tempest Stormwind05-14-05, 01:05 PM | I didn't archive it, but the basic idea was to get a spit attack and then grab an item of admixed venomfire. That build went under about the same time I joined, but I did read it. I think it used Eye of Gruumsh and then poured everything it got into Venomfire. However, I don't have Serpent Kingdoms, so I don't have any way of seeing what said spell does. All I know is that it's uncapped. |
| lokkesmadr05-14-05, 03:15 PM | It wouldn't have been Eye of Gruumsh since that doesn't give you venom, it gives you a special attack that involves spitting, but not actual venom. It's more likely it involved a serpent-kin of some sort with the Deadly Spittle feat, since that gives you a 15' cone attack and, combined with venomfire, you end up with an uncapped no save no SR damage 'spell'. The loophole occurs in that the spell targets the creature with venom, causing the venom to deal acid damage without a caster level cap. Since venom isn't subject to SR normally the magically transmuted venom isn't either. Since the damage is in addition to all other qualities of the venom it doesn't matter if the subject saves against the normal effects. |
| Interested205-14-05, 03:21 PM | Yep. And since venomfire lasts for 1 hour per caster level, you only need to get an item of it at CL 24 once per day :D. This costs 28,800gp. An item of the same thing, admixed with whatever, costs 67,200gp, but adds 48d6 damage to your spit. This is, of course, assuming that a day is 24 hours long in your campaign world. |
| lokkesmadr05-14-05, 03:35 PM | And, assuming you're a scaled one of some sort (virtually anything with scales or reptilian heritage) native to Toril, there's nearly infinite abuse potential in the Shapechange spell too, like boosting your stats obscenely and becoming collossal permanently... |
| Interested205-14-05, 03:38 PM | Details? I haven't heard of this trick...Although it did just occur to me that a nagahydra with venomfire on would be insanely nasty... |
| RadicalTaoist05-14-05, 07:01 PM | The joy was in what you could metamagic it with. Admixtured? Definitely. Lightning Admixtured Born of the Three Thunders? Sure! |

I don't think you'd want an item of CL 24, because it would be epic. And epic is a lot more trouble. Thats a 288000 gp item instead, whereas a Cl 20 would work just as well, because of the whole sleeping thing. While not truly an artifact, the epic magic item is a creation of such power that it surpasses other magic items. Epic magic items are objects of great power and value. The following are typical characteristics of an epic magic item. In general, an item with even one of these characteristics is an epic magic item. Grants a bonus on attacks or damage greater than +5. Grants an enhancement bonus to armor higher than +5. Has a special ability with a market price modifier greater than +5. Grants an armor bonus of greater than +10 (not including magic armor’s enhancement bonus). Grants a natural armor, deflection, or resistance bonus greater than +5. Grants an enhancement bonus to an ability score greater than +6. Grants an enhancement bonus on a skill check greater than +30. Mimics a spell of an effective level higher than 9th. Has a caster level above 20th. Has a market price above 200,000 gp, not including material costs for armor or weapons, material component- or experience point-based costs, or additional value for intelligent items. |

Beat said Sarrukh (hereafter referred to as 'Bob') unconscious. Take Bob to a mage capable of casting Shapechange. Instruct the mage to study Bob carefully. Pay the mage the appropriate fee, as listed in the PHB, to cast Shapechange, taking on the form of a standard member of Bob's race. Instruct the mage to permanently increase your size by a category as per the sarrukh supernatural racial ability Repeat previous step until collossal. Instruct the mage to set your physical stats to 23, 15, 20 if they are not that high. Instruct the mage to set your mental stats to the same value as his own mental stats, if they are better than your own. Instruct the mage to give you tentacles akin to those of a kraken, but with reach scaled to your collossal size. Istruct the mage to give you arms with claws as well. Instruct the mage to give you every exceptional, spell-like and supernatural ability available to any scaled one in Toril. Laugh with glee. |

Thats a 288000 gp item instead, whereas a Cl 20 would work just as well, because of the whole sleeping thing. If it's uncapped and doesn't rely on caster level (I assume), then you'd just need an Extended CL 12 one. |

Go back and re-read the section you quoted more thoroughly: Not all "Epic" magic items have the "Epic" cost multiplier, the only difficult requirement for the CL 24 item is having the "Epic" item creation feat. |
