you're Blood."

The cry of the 50's Movie vampire.

I am the Secondary Arcane Caster of our party and one of our party-mates has become a vampire !!

What spells should i take that would help this poor (lucky) fellow stay playable..

I can currently cast lvl 4 spells (lvl 5 in a few weeks)

All 3.5 only sources.
only 3.o source used is Book of Vile darkness.

So far i found No light (Bovd)
and darkness (phb) player has a way to see through magic darkness

What spells can i use to heal him?

Um, Arcane Disciple (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/iw/20040418a&page=3)? Seriously though, why is the wizard worried about healing people; that's the cleric's job. (S"he'd be better prepared for such things anyway. What you've got to worry about is keeping the light from killing him, and (if applicable) and being able to disable him if his evil side takes over (depending on how you run that sort of thing).

I'd suggest a cleric of bachariel.

Uhh, I'll re-emphasize darkness. Don't want the guy to burst into flame.

Shrink Item, because a back-up coffin will be needed at some point when he is forced gaseous.

Spell Immunity-Magic Missile and Spiritual Weapon, the two most common force attacks, and the easiest way to maul someone in gaseous form.

Polymorph other, for times when those vampiric weaknesses need to be suppressed for a while.

Finally, you are not in a great position to heal his damage, so why not stop it from occuring with mirror image, displacement, stoneskin, mage armor, endurance, and any other buff/protection spell you happen to know.

I'm not worried about healing people I asked what spells woulld heal a Vampire . As per your suggestion, i doubt very much that our cleric would want to heal him.

As above, i can use only 3.5 (with the exeption of BoVD)

Good advice UMiskatonic , thanks!

Well, they didnt reprint it anywhere that I know of, so you might just be reduced to Shrink Item and the various darkness spells, unless you can get your DM to allow it.

It's really a pretty crappy spell :P

Ask if you can use BoED, too.

Enervation will give him 1d4x5 temporary hit points, and frankly, his fast healing should do most of his healing for him. You always have the option of developing a new spell dealing negative energy damage yourself if you really want as well. The guidelines for arcane and divine spell damage in the DMG for new spells are pretty straight forward.

Night's Mantle (Lords of Darkness, but confirmed in Player's Guide to Faerun) could be useful as well, but its a cleric spell unfortunately.

(Interested2, the Book of Exalted Deeds is 3.5, so he should be able to use it.)
