| SteelNCuffs01-02-05, 02:04 PM | I am working on my first serious character that might go to lvl20 in a campaign. This will be a long, and hard campaign, and I am allowed to use Core, CW, CD, UA, PGtF, XPH, Drac., MiniHandbook. But I prefer to stick with Core if at all possible as those are the only books I own, but if there is something "great" that I can get out of core in any of those books then I would really, really consider it. The main problem is I will be the basic "everyone, and everything" in this party. Since there will be only 2 (at most, only 1 is for sure) other members (and 1, or both would be controled by the DM) I want to be able to verstile, and I think Rogue is the best for that. But if i'm wrong, be free to correct me. The other (N)PC will be most likely Rogue as well. I will be given more GP, or items to make up for this, and my DM is pretty open to anything aslong as I don't go complely overboard. So any Items I can make/buy would be good as well. I was thinking RogueX/RangerX/AssasinX and then either Horizon Walker, or Shadow Dancer (From the Core Builds Post Scout Builds: Ranger 6/Rogue 1/Horizon Walker 7/Shadow Dancer 6 by Ranthanas Rogue 4/Barbarian 1/Assassin 8/Horizon Walker 7 by Ranthanas Bard 4/Ranger 3/Horizon Walker 7/Shadow Dancer 6 by Ranthanas) The Ranger6/Rogue1/HW7/SD6 sounds great, but I don't know how to develop. Or if another build might be better for what I need. If someone has a build that would work it would be great, or just some pointers, or ideas. I am still new to the boards, so I hope I gave enough info, and that I didn't miss a post that has what i'm looking for and mentioned it was a great "stand alone" character. |

At higher levels you will be blasting, healing, fighting and sneaking - jack of all trades indeed. Bard at the early levels also fits the generalist nature of what you need. A low level bard with a wand of cure light wounds is pretty darn handy in a pinch. Other than the Bard track, something like Ranger 3 / Rogue 3 / Assassin 8 / Shadowdancer 6 is a good fightin' sneak. Let us know how it turns out. |
| ninjarabbit01-02-05, 07:19 PM | rogue3/humanparagon1/hexblade7/blackguard5/assassin3/humanparagon2, BAB 17, minor spellcasting with 2 CL from human paragon to play with, 5d6 sneak attack, a familar and a fiendish servant to help cover any holes in the party (improved familar is recommended and you can use practiced spellcaster to get a better familar), take either Use Magic Device or Disable Device with adaptive learning, good saves |
| SteelNCuffs01-03-05, 09:32 AM | Thanks guys, more ideas/suggestions are always welcome. :) Is there maybe another class that would be better suited for a "2 PC camp"? A little more info for you guys... the other "PC" will be a Monk/Tat Monk/Shadow Dancer I start at 4th level, and I can have up to +2 Level adjustment (for class) {Did I word that right?} So if this changes anything let me know. Thanks again! and again! |

This sounds great, and I could possibly take Horizon Walker (post epic you can still take PrC's right?) for some single player "wandering adventure type" fun. Also I forgot to note.. the Monk/Tat Monk/Shadow Dancer won't be with me "all the time" the DM said aother NPC's will be switched back and forth. So I can't count on him 100% of the time. But I expect about 80% of the time the MK/TAT MK/SD (N)PC will be with me for RP reasons. |
