| skydragonknight06-08-06, 07:05 PM | Hello to all fellow optimizers! I present a new unofficial contest that will be an exercise in optimization involving one prestige class: Reforged. I want to hear the sickest, most broken (and prefferably most humorous) uses/abuses of this Prestige Class. The Winner gets the eternal title of "Cheeseforged Incanate" which they may add to their sig. with a direct link to this thread. Submission deadline is July 8 at midnight. Scoring will be on a 1-10 scale for the following categories: 1.Combat Effectiveness: How well can your Reforged perform in combat situations? 2.Versatility: How well can your Reforged adapt to situations that significantly limit its abilities? 3.Hilarity/Enjoyment of Play: How fun is this character to play and how much humor can it bring to the table? 4.Playability at ALL levels: Starting at level 1, can this build survive and perform adequately until the time of Reforging(Reforged class level 3)? Basic rules for the build: 32 point buy. Race: Warforged Sources: All 3.5 material published by Wizards of the Coast. No outside sources allowed since not everyone has access to them. 20 level progression if pre-epic reforging or 30 level progression if epic reforging. Scores are based on performance at the final character level and at levels prior to final character level. Neither progression will favored. An entries MUST contain: Ability scores: Tactical statistics: Hit points: Initiative: Move Speed: AC: Saves: Progression Table: Class Abilities/Skills/Spells of Note: Items of Note: Why is your cheeseforged the ultimate cheeseforged? Need: 4 other Judges. Final score will be effective score out of 200 possible points. Submissions should be sent to: Skydragonknight@yahoo.com Note: Another thread will be established once enough entries are received and a link will be included in this post and vice versa. Once that thread has been created, entries may be posted directly onto that thread. Disclaimer: I hereby take no responsability for the creations made by this contest or their ability to unbalance the D&D world. No living constructs were harmed during the making of this contest. Now go, and show me the cheese! :D |
| slimgoodbody06-08-06, 07:11 PM | I don't really have time to get into a build right now, but I always thought the concept of a Renegade Mastermaker who goes into Reforged afterwards would be really funny. "At long last, I have left my weak human body behind in favor of the perfect Warforged vessel!" Hours pass. "Hmm... This isn't as cool as I thought it would be. Oh well, better find a way to undo it." |
| Nezkrul06-09-06, 01:00 AM | Can I help judge and still submit my cheeseforged? (aka I dont judge my own entry) Can we take 2 flaws at first level? Just how many free actions may we take in one round if what we use doesn't have an imposed limit to how often it may be done in a round? Do you want us to include standard equipment from the printed 3.5 material allowed, without using the DMG for creating our own items? (+5 tomes, etc., using the standard cash for starting a character of this level) If yes (i would assume so since our gear affects our survivability) at what point would it be fair to assume we "bought" and used a +5 tome for our primary stat or stats? (level wise) May we expend XP during the course of generating the character for spells / epic spells / etc. ? and I don't know if this is covered anywhere but can someone who tries to counterspell you be countered so you can keep casting, assuming you have a quickened version of the spell he uses to counter you with or a quickened dispel type spell? and does counterspelling someone require them to be in range for the spell as well as having line of effect to them? Other than that, I hope I win :) |
| skydragonknight06-09-06, 04:43 PM | Can I help judge and still submit my cheeseforged? (aka I dont judge my own entry) Yes, you may. Just send an e-mail to the skydragonknight@yahoo.com and I will relate all the relevant information to you concerning judging. Can we take 2 flaws at first level? Because Unearthed Arcana is 3.5, you may have 1 trait and 2 flaws. In fact, you can use anything from that book except: Bloodlines, LA Buyoff and Gestalt Characters. Just how many free actions may we take in one round if what we use doesn't have an imposed limit to how often it may be done in a round? 1 Free action per round of a given type. You could drop your weapon as a free action, quick draw another weapon as a free action and then have more free actions so long as you don't perform the same free action twice in the same round. Only one attack of opportunity per trigger. If two feats trigger an AoO off the same trigger, only one activates. However, an action and a result count as two different triggers. For example, with the appropriate feats someone attacking you could trigger an AoO and that same person hitting you could trigger another AoO. (level wise) I will allow custom items made with your own item creation feats, following the rules in the back of the DMG. If the DMG doesn't specify you can do something, assume you can't. +5 Tomes cost 137,500 gp. Using the rule that the most expensive item a starting character can have is 1/4 their average character wealth by level, the lowest starting character level would be Level 19. 1/4 of 580,000 gp is 145,000 gp. May we expend XP during the course of generating the character for spells / epic spells / etc. ? 20-level builds have 190,000 XP that can be used for levels or item creation. 30-level epic builds have 435,000 XP to be used for levels, item creation or making epic spells. This is more than fair because having 19,000 XP to use for item creation and spending it wisely(sacrificing one character level) could still result in a character with the same challenge rating(or higher, but it's up to you to figure out how.) Artificers follow their normal rules, meaning they can't "save" their experience pool for higher levels. and I don't know if this is covered anywhere but can someone who tries to counterspell you be countered so you can keep casting, assuming you have a quickened version of the spell he uses to counter you with or a quickened dispel type spell? and does counterspelling someone require them to be in range for the spell as well as having line of effect to them? To the best of my knowledge any time a caster casts a spell, it can be countered with the appropriate counterspell or with dispel magic. Counterspell: When Dispel Magic is used this way, the spell targets a spell caster and is cast as a counterspell. How Counterspells Work: To use a counterspell, you must sellect an opponent asd the target of the counterspell. You must do this by choosing the ready action. Answer: If you use a standard action to ready an action and cast a quickened spell which they attempt to use dispel magic to counter, yes you may. If you do not have a ready action, you cannot. Quickened dispel magic spells may easily be houseruled as getting around this, but this being the CO board the RAW says "no." If I missed an important part of the text, feel free to "counter" me and I may change the verdict. |
