| SolenVlos01-10-05, 07:05 AM | hello everyone my DM ask the group to create each one a powerful weapon, and I'm making a sword, kind of mean sword. my idea is to put most of "draining" abilities, like souldrinking and the bloodfeeding(can't remember the right name), from BOVD, wounding from the DMG, things like this. anyone have a sugestion? the maximum of the sword is +9, but could be less(why? I don't know. these are my DM words.) any reply will be useful. |
| charlesatan01-10-05, 08:22 AM | Depends on your concept of "draining". Souldrinking bestows negative levels, for example, while there are a couple of weapon enhancements in the Expanded Psionics Handbook that drains power points, for example. There's also the vampiric ability in Magic of Faerun that essentially works like a mini-vampiric touch (deal extra damage and get that much as temporary hit points). Remember that wounding also deals Con damage in 3.5. |
| SolenVlos01-10-05, 08:54 AM | I'm always unclear hehehe, sorry. this conecpt of draining would be more related on draining enery/blood/hitpoints. how the vampiric ability works? and the wounding ability just drain the Con point, doesn't it? the whole point it to seeriously hamper the foe, draining levels, constitiuon, will to fight, eyes, whatever is possible. the psionic power point wouldn't be so effective, since there are extremly few psions on our games(by that I mean none). right now, the sword is a Souldrinking Wounding +3 or a Souldrinking Flamming Wounding +2 |
| Fălenganor01-10-05, 09:13 AM | You don't know why you're creating the weapons or how you'll (probably) get them? If that's true, and if you have a mean DM you should be geting yourself immunity to those drains... |
| Grim Sage01-10-05, 10:06 AM | +1 Wrathful Healing Souldrinking Vicious Deals out negative levels and +2d6 damage with each hit, healing you back half of what it dealt (which would include what it dealt to you). The healing part nicely compliments the vampiric nature of the blade, and vicious and souldrinking speak for themselves. Wrathful healing: Enemies & Allies p20, +3 bonus Vicious: A&EG, +1 bonus Souldrinking: BoVD, +4 bonus |
| SolenVlos01-10-05, 12:53 PM | my DM really didn't told us what is about this weapons...don't know if they will be ours or used against us..i'm not really into melee, so i'm kinda safe from this vampiric sword, i guess... Wrathful healing: Enemies & Allies p20, +3 bonus my DM doesn't allow anything not-WOTC but isn't this the same of the vampiric ability from magic of faerun? what's the diference? |

The book with Wrathful Healing in it is a WotC book - it just contains a load of NPCs (from Faerun?) Wrathful Healing is like an AD&D2e vampiric weapon, it is a very nice thing to have on a weapon and appears in quite a few builds. Vampiric is (as previously described) something like Vampiric Touch, in that it allows a (rather low) save and if the enemy fails it they lose a few extra hp and you gain a few (temporary) and as such gets less and less useful the more powerful you are, as the enemies get better saves. |
| SolenVlos01-10-05, 01:16 PM | Well, low DC aren't good at all...I mean, it's a +9 weapon. it is high level by itself.... |

Also look the rapier used in my negative levels machine build, it is so good against Good Aligned Characters. If your DM uses it against you beware. |
