| TheStudent09-03-06, 05:10 PM | Hello everybody, i was looking in my books when my attention was drawn to the Primeval Class. (from Frostburn book) Since a Primeval can turn to any dire animal or dinosaur whose HD does not exceed 8, i thought that the Dire Vulture (from Sandstorm book) would be a great choice.;) In fact it has Stench, who forces all fores in a 20 feet radius to a fortitude save (DC= 10+1/2HDs+Con modifier) or be nauseated for 1d6 rounds. Who is nauseated can only take move actions.:D Since the Primeval class itself boosts your Con by 20 when in dire vulture form with just 6 levels, it should be easy to min/max the Con modifier to a ridiculous level.:evillaugh Evrybody could raise this DC to at least 45 (for I, that know few about min/maxing, did it a few days ago in "The Primeval Challenge" thread), but I'm sure it is possible to do more than that. Any help is welcome, but please try to use DnD books only. Thank you:D |

| Richmud09-03-06, 08:30 PM | On a small note there should be 24 hours between bumps. What about starting off as a dragonborn gnome going to into stoneblessed to become a dwarf hop into deepwarden for some massive ac and head into dragon devotee long enough to pick up the con bonus |
| AlienFromBeyond09-03-06, 09:27 PM | Why the Gnome Dragonborn? Why not just Dwarf Dragonborn? Wait, is it because of the size of the Dire Vulture for Primeval? |
| Sithobi109-03-06, 09:32 PM | Actually, gnome won't work because of the size limitation. How about Dragonborn Mongrelfolk? |
| Richmud09-03-06, 09:53 PM | Why the Gnome Dragonborn? Why not just Dwarf Dragonborn? Wait, is it because of the size of the Dire Vulture for Primeval? I don't belive you can use stoneblessed to become a dwarf if you already are one, and you need to be dwarf so you can get deepwarden. I also forgot the size issue, really any other 0 LA con bonus race would work there. In fact the 1 LA for mineral warrior template would probably be worth it |
| Caliborn09-05-06, 05:16 PM | Just go Mongrel Folk instead of Gnome. |
| Khan the Destroyer09-05-06, 06:01 PM | Yeah. If I remember correctly, Mongrelfolk get +4 to constitution. Dragonborn is another +2. Stoneblessed is another +2. So, that's +8 total, with only 3 class levels invested. I think the rest of the class levels need to be full BAB classes in order to get all 10 levels of Primeval in (can't be sure though, don't have my books). Dwarf Paragon 3 would get you another +2 to constitution. |
| Azhmodai09-05-06, 09:04 PM | In fact it has Stench, who forces all fores in a 20 feet radius to a fortitude save (DC= 10+1/2HDs+Con modifier) or be nauseated for 1d6 rounds. Who is nauseated can only take move actions.:D TheStudent, are you sure about that ability? My copy of Sandstorm says sickened instead of nauseated, which is not nearly as useful. It would be cool if it worked like you said--is there errata on that I'm not aware of? |
| Da Dinictus09-06-06, 04:42 PM | I'm afraid Ahzmodai is right. The dire vulture's stench causes sickening rather than nausea. Still, to add to your DC query, ever considered Ability Focus? Adds another +2 to any ability you may have. |
