Natural bond gives you a kick to your druid level if it's below your HD, it's in the complete adventurer. 1 level of Beastmaster gives you plus 3 to your druid level BEYOND HD. Easy to qualify. ...and really that's it. Arcane hierophant lets you have your animal companion as a familiar at the same time, and it doesn't punish you if it dies. Any spell that effects you can influence your companion as well, as long as it is within 5 feet. You can hold a touch spell indefinitely, so place that on your companion familiar before a fight and you can discharge it at any time it hits an enemy. (shocking grasp becomes useful) Augment familiar in the complete warrior should work. Crappy duration though. There are lots of core only druid spells that make animals kick ass. Animal growth level 5, magic fang, and in the complete divine there is a 9th level spell called natures avatar that will make your animal companion a god. Hope that helps, 'Lock

Khazra Reborn 01-21-06, 03:25 PM	If there is any such feat i havent heard of it. Improved familiar from CW and/or DMG lets you choose different creatures. I personally like the winter wolf because there like wolves but cooler (pun power!). Actually, they have more HD and the best str of all the options IIRC. The hipogriff is also nice but having 3 less HD means much less HP overall. Though its not official, talk to your DM about rolling stats for your familiar companion and then adjusting with the stat mods...thats how we do it in my group and it makes them much more viable.
