| Deepwood_Sniper02-07-05, 05:36 PM | Hello everybody, After being trapped in school all day I got bored and decided to mkae up a build involing a druids animal companion. My idea is to have an elf druid of Mieliki(sp? the lady of the forest?) riding a tiger as her mount(and of course its not a rip off of Warcraft 3) ;) . Well anyways here is my build. Oh by the way flaws are allowed. Druid 5/ Beastmaster 1/ Druid 14 for feats i was thinking..... Druid 1- Skill focus(handle animal), Mounted combat, Natural bond (the one from Complete Adventure) Druid 3- spirited charge Druid 5/ Beastmaster 1- Ride by attack Then every other feat after that i have no clue. Any improvements or suggestions would be great. So from the feat natural bond and the first level of Beast master it adds +7 to my druid level in reference to the animal companion. So my vision is a armored druid with a lance(thanks to Mielliki) with an armored tiger with more hit-dice than me. Any suggestions would be great. Thanx in advance. |

The beast master has his own companion, it does not stack with a druid's animal companion. natural bond works the same was a practiced spellcaster, in that it does not exceed your class level (this feat is made for multiclass druids and rangers)you'll only recieve a +1 and thats because of the wasted beast master level. edit: yea I just went back and looked at beastmaster, i forgot it -can- stack. But the feat still doesnt work, as far as I can tell. |

That is not true. It says specifically that a beast master's level stack with a druid's when determining an animal companion. How did you get +7 to your druid level, shouldn't it be +6? |

I was editing my post when you posted :P And its +3 from feat, and level+3 from beast master (beast master level is 1, so thats a total of 7) |
| Caelic02-07-05, 06:24 PM | Well, if you're going this route, you might as well make more use of that feat--as others have pointed out, it only benefits you if your Druid level is lower than your hit dice. Why not consider devoting a few levels to Wild Plains Outrider? Both you AND your tiger will get a full attack at the end of a charge. |

| Lilt02-07-05, 08:05 PM | Wow that would be awesome.Sadly he's not right. You can only take a full attack after your mount takes a single move. Note that that's a single move on the mount's part. Not a single move and a standard action, or a move action and a move-equivalent action, let-alone a charge action. If your mount charges you could only take a standard attack as per the normal rules for what you do if your mount moves more than 5ft. |
| The Thing in the Night02-07-05, 09:49 PM | Be a Lion of Talsid with a tiger mount...you both get a full attack at the end of the charge..If only there was a way to combine this with ride-by attack...Also, wildshape into a legendary ape, and cast animal growth on your companion so it can carry you. Pounce+Rend+Pounce (mount)=A World of Hurt. |
| Deepwood_Sniper02-07-05, 10:32 PM | ok from what you guys(or gals), have told me is that the beastmaster levels stack with the druid levels but the feat natural bond does not raise my druid level past my hit-dice( just like practiced spellcaster). Ok if i've got this all right then is there any other ways to improve my animal compainion? So i guess you can all this a :bump: |
| happycows02-08-05, 02:55 AM | Tigers are lame. What are you playing? The Pooh Bear campaign? Get a wolf;I hear free tripping attempts are great. Nothing beats a wolf. They track, free trip, and have a natural instinct to flank. Tigers are lame. |
