| Bling Bling Van Hooch04-19-06, 06:10 PM | I have looked at other threads and comprised a character out of it. The stats i have to work with. 18, 17, 14, 16, 12, 12. I need to be an elf, possibly gray elf. Will be starting at lvl 4. Looking for comments and suggestions. (dual wielding scimitars when they become light, will prob use single rapier until lvl 6th. Elf with Swa 3/ Ftr 2/ Derv 10/ CoCL 2/ Temp 3 (20) 1 Swashbuckler 1 Weapon finesse, Dodge 2 Fighter 1 Combat Expertise 3 Swashbuckler 2 Weapon Focus (Longsword) 4 Swashbuckler 3 5 Fighter 2 Mobility 6 Dervish 1 Two-weapon fighting 7 Dervish 2 8 Dervish 3 9 Dervish 4 Mounted Combat 10 Coc 1 Spring Attack 11 Coc 2 12 Dervish 5 Improved Two-weapon Fighting 13 Tempest 1 14 Tempest 2 15 Tempest 3 Greater Two-weapon fighting 16 Dervish 6 17 Dervish 7 18 Dervish 8 Improved Critical (Scimitar) 19 Dervish 9 20 Dervish 10 |
| Bling Bling Van Hooch04-20-06, 08:52 PM | Nobody has any suggestions on which elf race, stat placements, magical equipment. No changes to feats classes? |
| GrappleCheck04-20-06, 11:23 PM | You Should be a rogue - Dervish - Fighter - Invisible Blade. Get Kukris with the Speed and wounding enchantments when possible get the following feats when possible: Two weapon Fighting Weapon Finesse Kukris Weapon Focus Kukris Arterial Strike Improved Initiative Max Ranks in the Following Skills When Possible: Bluff Tumble Get to the second level of invisible blade to get bleeding wound. So if it works the way i think it does you could get 12 attacks with your kukris first round trading 1d6 worth of sneak attack damage to do 3 points of damage a round per hit.(the damage is cumulative) then after that round you keep using bluff to get them flatfooted so you can bleeding wound and arterial strike again. |
| Bling Bling Van Hooch04-21-06, 10:07 PM | well the invisible blade is a class i will look at and see how it fits, i just want to confirm that by lvl 20 with some magical equipment (not even close to max) quick calculations state Gray Elf Str 18 Dex 24 Con 18 Int 24 Eis 12 Cha 12 With 2 +5 speed weapons. 36/36/36/36/32/32/27/27/22 Main hand Damage 4 +7 +7 +5 + 5= 28 + 1d6 Off Hand 2 +7 +7 +5 +5 = 26 + 1d6 Plus Critical is 15-20 now if you can add a little more to your post to show me how your build is better off ill be glad to listen. Edit: also get thousand cuts, so will double attacks once per day. |

| Asciiman04-22-06, 06:04 PM | No Tempest. Bad Bling Bling. Bad!! Incorporating Tempest into your build may seem on the surface to be worth it, but look at it. For taking five levels of a prestige class you get a +2 to attack and a +3 to AC. Is this really worth it? The spring attack double attack is pointless since you'll be Dervish Dancing all encounters at that level anyway. Picking up three levels of rogue, will net you some HUGE benefits. First off, uncanny dodge and evasion. Skill points, always helpful there, and finally it will allow you to take Craven as a feat, and craven rules for builds like this. Craven allows you to add an extra point of damage to a sneak attack for every level you have. So at level 16, when you'll take your first level of rogue, you'll have 1d6 + 16 PER sneak attack. Also look into flay foe if you are duel wielding an extra 1d6 for every attack after the first is really nice. |
| Bling Bling Van Hooch04-22-06, 06:31 PM | Well i have been looking at possibly dropping tempest, main reason for the thread was to tweak it. I agree tempest is not all that great not sure if rogue is the answer though. how often with this build will i really be sneak attacking. I surmise you need to sneak attack to get the extra damage from craven. Which book is that feat in so i have a better understanding of what you are proposing. Edit: I do not have double hit, the spring attack is a prereq for tempest, but i forgot to factor in that i get spring attack for free from third lvl dervish so i might have an extra feat. |
| Bling Bling Van Hooch04-23-06, 04:54 PM | Books Able to use ( 3 core 3.5, Complete warrior, Complete Adeventurer, Tome of Magic, Miniatures hand book, Draconomicon, Races of the wild. [3.5 Reprinted books only, most likely just the ones listed]) Gray Elf with Swa 3/ Ftr 2/ Derv 10/ CoCL 2/ Temp 3 (20) Lvl 4 so far Str 16 +3 Dex 18 +4 Con 14 +2 Int 18 +4 Wis 12 +1 Cha 12 +1 1 Swashbuckler 1 Weapon finesse (bonus), Dodge 2 Fighter 1 Combat Expertise(bonus) 3 Swashbuckler 2 Mobility 4 Swashbuckler 3 (was +1 dex) 5 Fighter 2 Weapon Focus (Longsword) 6 Dervish 1 Two-weapon fighting 7 Dervish 2 8 Dervish 3 Spring Attack (bonus) (+1 dex) 9 Dervish 4 Mounted Combat 10 Coc 1 Elusive Target (bonus) 11 Coc 2 12 Dervish 5 Improved Two-weapon Fighting (+1 dex) 13 Tempest 1 14 Tempest 2 15 Tempest 3 Greater Two-weapon fighting 16 Dervish 6 (+1 dex) 17 Dervish 7 18 Dervish 8 Improved Critical (Scimitar) 19 Dervish 9 20 Dervish 10 (+1 dex) Am looking at blade dancer (to replace tempest) but doubt i will be able to add another book. Might take 1 lvl in theif-acrobat and 2 in something else, theif/fighter or 3 lvls in assasin |
| Bling Bling Van Hooch04-24-06, 08:25 PM | heh, im guessing either i named the thread poorly or people are tired of looking at dervish threads :) I think ill be replacing the 3 lvls of tempest with 1 lvl thief acrobat, switch elusive target for combat reflexes and take 2 lvls in shadow dancer. (obviously the 2 lvls in shadown dancer are first as evasion is a prereq for acrobat) |
| PainTrain04-25-06, 10:16 PM | hah I'm working on a dervish build myself, looks exactly the same, just trying to figure out what to do with those left few levels like yourself. |
| Bling Bling Van Hooch04-27-06, 10:02 AM | very cool, if you have any luck lmk. |
| Double M04-27-06, 12:05 PM | If you're not a fan of Rogue for those last few levels, you may want to consider scout because it is easier for you to control the skirmish damage you'll be adding, than to control the sneak attack damage. I'm currently playing a 10th level SB3/F2/Der3/COCL2 and the biggest problems with the dual scimitar weilding dervish are DR and non-crittable enemies, so you'll want to add as much bonus damage as possible, so you may want to consider the "burst" enhancements for your scimis rather than the +5 speed enhancement...by that level, your arcane caster should have no problem casting haste or making boots of speed or the like for you. You might want to consider getting your Improved Critical sooner...it makes a significant difference in your mid-level damage output. I'd consider it before Greater TWF...I'd rather have the 15-20 on my first 5 or 6 attacks than the 7th attack at -10, but your mileage may vary. I'll add my agreement that tempest is not nearly as good as it looks at first glance and is probably sub-optimal. I'd also consider Expeditious Dodge as opposed to Dodge if you GM will allow it to work with all Dodge pre-req game mechanics (including Elusive Target--my GM won't allow me to use it with Elusive Target, which seriously blows). |
