| Roland Falantyr01-18-06, 12:01 PM | I'm sure most of you optimizers already know about this but heres a neat little trick from the Complete Arcane. This is a continuation from my Elemental Savant movement rate build http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?p=6549531#post6549531 Take Sorceror 6/Elemental Savant (Air) 10 and do whatever you want with the rest, just dont lose any more casting progression. As you may or may not know Elemental Savant gives you a ridiculous amount of immunities, since for all practical purposes it turns you into a full elemental! What we are interested in for this thread though is the feat Born of the Three Thunders. This metamagic feat makes it so electricity spells have a chance to stun your targets, and knock them prone. It adds +0 to spell level but leaves the caster dazed for a round after using it. If you are an elemental Savant however you are immune to stunning and daze effects, and therefore every area of effect spell you cast from now on will have this stunning side effect! Imagine Chain lightning! |
| WombleHunter01-18-06, 12:47 PM | I know elementals are immune to stun, but I don't believe they are immune to Daze effects. |
| Roland Falantyr01-18-06, 07:47 PM | its not the immunity to stunning that makes them immune to daze. Theres a rule that says all creatures that are immune to critical hits and sneak attacks are also immune to daze attacks. |
| LightAcolyte01-18-06, 08:19 PM | Where is that rule? And...if you are immune to daze effects, doesn't the feat say it has some other consequence? Or maybe I'm thinking of the spell-boosting feat from the Dragonlance campaign setting... |

Or maybe I'm thinking of the spell-boosting feat from the Dragonlance campaign setting... I can't recall that rule about dazed anywhere, and I have looked it up in the DMG. As far as other effects, there are none, even if you are immune to being dazed. |
| Roland Falantyr01-18-06, 08:43 PM | Two of my rules lawyer friends are finding the page where that rule is stated for me. ill try and post it here. |
| BarbeChenue01-18-06, 08:44 PM | Very few creatures are immune to Daze effects, as I recall. In fact, contrary to popular belief, Undeads, Plants, Elementals, Oozes and Constructs are not immune to it, even if they are immune to critical hits. Daze effects are countered by "Favor of the Martyr" however, a 4th level Paladin spell (SC). Also available to Archivists and Artificers, of course. ;) |
