We are starting a weekly game with three players, one GM. The following basic rules apply:

* Pretty much 3.5 core/complete books, unearthed arcana (for gestalt ONLY), and other books on a case-by-case basis
* NO prestige classes, no switching of classes
* Gestalt characters, one of the classes MUST be druid!!

One of the players has already stated that she would like to go druid/sorcerer. I was thinking of going the "sneaky tank" type build with one of the following:

* Duid/Ninja
advantages: wisdom to AC, sneak-attack-like stuff, invisibility and other ki abilities, poison use, other stuff
disadvantages: only 6+ skill points/level, no use magic device

* Druid/Rogue
advantages: evasion early, full sneak attack, 8+ skill points, uncanny dodges, etc.
disadvantages: not as flavourful RolePlay, not as many neat special abilities

Either way, I was thinking of being basically using grapples and my pet to do a lot fo melee damage, gaining feats that add to that (savage grapple??).

Now, given all that, is there something else that would be cool to mix with druid? I am not sure what the 3rd person will want to do, but it too will have a druid/X combo.

Any thoughts?? Any good races to combo with this (i.e. +wisdom +0 LA races??)

Gold Dragon 20//Druid 20 wouldn't be too bad.

If you don't mind bizarre, Black Ethergaunt 20//Druid 20.

I'd say...
Druid 20//Warlock 20 for simple coolness effects...(Earthen Grasp!)

but Druid//Rogue would be cooler if your pet did the grapple/pin and you did the Sneak Attacking...

Druid//Rogue is quite good, as you can teach "flank" as one of your animal companion's tricks, making it very easy to get sneak attacks. The druid also has some great spells that make getting sneak attacks easier (attack-roll-wise); Produce Flame and Flame Blade are both great touch attack spells for this purpose.

Another interesting option would be the Scout, from Complete Adv. Even though a few of the abilities "double up" (the woodland stride, etc.), the skirmish ability is quite useful to a druid, who can wildshape into the form of lion or tiger, and thus pounce upon foes, adding skirmish damage to several attacks. Scouts also get 8 skill points per level, a great skill list (though lacking in UMD), and several bonus feats.

It should first be noted that one of the most powerful Gestalt combinations in existance is Druid//Cloistered Cleric, which is available with these rules.

Really, what you need is stat synnergy. Druid//Ninja gives you a little of it, as does Druid//Monk (Wildshape into whatever stealth you need, and flurry away!).

Druid//Cloistered Cleric with the right Domains (Trickery, for example) would be the most powerful choice by far. 6 skill points per level and godly casting... yehaw.

Druid//Cloistered Cleric, which is available with these rules.Reread the original thread. Unearthed Arcana is only there for the gestalt rules; he cannot use any other alternate rules from within its pages.

Huh. I can't use cloistered cleric, but I can use just plain old cleric. Is there a way to get a "sneaky trap finder" type with a Druid//Cleric combo? I realize that there would only be 4 skill points/level, so the sneaky would have to be secondary to the search/spot/disable skills, but is there a way to get that?

OTHER than being a kobold (not out of the question, but not exactly what I want to do with the character.....)

A Druid//Cleric with high CHA/WIS/INT could probably afford to pour skill points into Search, and use Divine Metamagic: Persistant Spell to keep Find Traps around for the whole day. You could then use Summon Nature's Ally I to trip any found traps for you, or just pour points into Disable Device.

Also, keep in mind that you can use the same method to persistify Forestfold, Embrace of the Wild and/or Listening Lorecall, making you arguably more stealthy, and better at scouting than a Druid//Rogue.
