| Galeon Sirtan03-04-04, 07:28 PM | hi, i am about to create a new char for our dragonlance campaign, and i dont know if i should go cleric or go mystic theurg (my char will start with 5 character levels to distribute between classes and he will be a half-celestial (my DM gives it a +2 level adjustment not the +4 from the 3.5), the others in the group are lvl 7 (one fighter / ranger, one thief, one minotaur fighter / bard)) i am not sure if i should go mystic theurg or go cleric, i think both has its positives and its draw backs what do you think would make best? i am not sure as i havent played a cleric since 3.0 and i also have no real experience with the mystic theurg class |
| Galeon Sirtan03-04-04, 07:45 PM | or one other thought, should i just dont use the half-celestial and build that char with 3 mage / 3 cleric / 1 mt? |

Splitting them up between cleric and wizard would make for a very weak character. I am not a big fan of X3/Y3/MyTh10 characters, anyway. I'd rather play a single classed caster in most cases, unless you're exploiting some cheaty trick that your DM will likely disallow. I'd say go half-celestial cleric, if your party doesn't already have a cleric. |
| Galeon Sirtan03-04-04, 08:49 PM | as posted above we have neither cleric nor mage, that is why i primary thought about the MT, i am not realy sure cause i dont want to play the buff w... of the party as a pure cleric but i also think that we might need some healing power (that is why i dont choose the pure mage) the HC is an option the DM opened to me, i could surely create a very good cleric around it (at least i hope so) but i am not sure if that is what i want i am not sure what kind of feats i should take if i take the MT btw my starting abilities as MT would look like: str 10 dex 10 con 14 int 16 wis 16 cha 10 one point from lvl 4 open to spent plus 50.000 gold (or steel in DL) for the creation of a magic item or two (which would be enough for an int +5 and a wis +5 magic item) |
| PhaedrusXY03-04-04, 08:57 PM | What books are available? If they are available, you could play a cleric and take the Spell and Magic Domains. That will give you the ability to cast arcane spells via your Domain slots and use all the wizard/sorcerer magic items. I don't have the Dragonlance book, so I don't know if those domains exist there. They are originally from the Forgotten Realms book. If you decide to go the Mystic Theurge route, I certainly wouldn't take the Half-celestial template though. |
| Galeon Sirtan03-04-04, 09:04 PM | both domains are not available for me (problem is that the three gods of magic from krynn are not granting powers to priests) if i would choose pure cleric i would take kiri - jolith (god of war) as my patron deity and my domains could be: war, strength and good but nearly all not specific feats or other stuff would be available for me |
