There's lots of stuff on this topic already so forgive me, but I'm at an impasse here with a couple things on this build.

This PC is being made for Age of Worms - we will be playing from level 1-??

This setting is in Greyhawk, right? So there can be no Realms material used (for authenticity's sake, at least until we start plane-hopping). Pretty much anything else is fair game.

I have never played a Cleric in v.3.x because I always played one in 2E for 13 years. Time to try one out.

The purpose of this PC is to dust undead and still be capable in melee or ranged combat, as well as cast some decent spells at higher levels. In other words, a generalist who can also rule on undead, if that's possible. I am assuming I will be capable in combat by pretty much cleric spells alone and not need to use feats or class levels on combat stuff. If I'm wrong, let me know.

The rest of the party:
Druid - will be pimped out
Melee rogue/fighter type - I will help build this PC so it will be passable
Warmage - probably will not be optimized much - this player and the next don't tend to read game books
Ranger, melee focus

So we really lack a tank, which is why I need to be combat ready. The druid will help quite a bit here.

Dusty "the Club" McTankerson (better name TBA) Half elf or elf?, with following stats (OK so they are enormously high but we got to roll as many sets as we wanted and I've been doing point buy for the last 7 years so I'm happy)

STR 17
DEX 15
CON 16
INT 13
WIS 18
CHA 18

Classes/Levels (feats chosen bolded - I'm assuming you guys know which levels grant which abilities for the P-Classes by now)

Cleric 1 extra turning Domains: Sun, Glory
Marshal 1 (I am thinking the one level dip is OK for the huge bonuses I will get from the auras, like to turning undead, diplomacy, etc.)
Cleric 2 quicken turning
Chuch Inquisitor 1
Seeker of the MI 1 (Travel Domain=oooh, shiny)
RSoP 1 Divine Metamagic, Persistent
RSoP 2
RSoP 3
RSoP 4 Extra Turning
RSoP 5 bonus domain: Strength
RSoP 6
RSoP 7 Quicken Spell
RSoP 8
RSoP 9
RSoP 10 Spell Penetration
Church Inquisitor 2
CI 3
CI 4? Extra Turning

My questions:

1) Travel domain rocks, but do I need it? I know I lose a level of turn here. With this and Church Inq. I can have as many as 5 domains with the RSoP bonus domain. Is there a limit on domains?
2) I bet there is a better way to go for the last few levels, but that doesn't really need to be planned out right now unlike many optimizations - ideas?
3) The purpose of having both the divine meta and quicken spell feats: My idea was to persist the 1st level buffs and quicken the others at the start of combat. This along with quicken turning should be a nice combo as I should still be able to buff, (greater) turn, and attack in round 1. If this doesn't work or there is a better way, please let me know.
4) I'd really like to work in Improved Turn and Empower Turn but don't see a way unless I give up my buff-ocity. How to do this?
5) I chose Strength as the bonus RSoP domain (5th, CL 9th) for that nice one melee attack on the big bad which should be lots of fun. Good and healing don't seem to be as nice at that level. Am I mistaken?

I'm planning on some items to help with turning and a rod of extend down the road, if that helps.

Now, what did I miss?

What'd I do that's illegal that I didn't know about?

What's a better way to do x?

Thanks in advance for all suggestions!

OK, so given suggestions I could go for feats:

1 - Extra Turning
3 - Quicken Turning
6 - Empower Turning
9 - Quicken Spell
12 - Divine Meta: Quicken
15 - Spell Penetration
18 - Improved Turning

Divine Meta: Quicken is "cheaper" for uses of turning so I should be able to get away with having Div Power and Div Favor quickened the first two rounds of combat and still have ample turning attempts left over (as CHA bonus will go up with stat points and items).

Now, what's better than Improved Turning for 18th level feat? It seems I will need that extra level in some of the really high level combats, but I'm sure there is something else out there I am missing.

Question: Exalted damage doesn't add to TURNING damage, just adds hit point damage to turning, right?

Oh yeah, and I will have to switch the domains around to Strength at first level, Glory at 5th RSoP.

Thanks again.

The bonus domain from Radiant Servant is limited to either Glory or Purification, unless your DM said otherwise. The healing abilities of the RSoP are also limited to spells from the Healing domain - you need to get clarification on whether that means "a spell that is on the domain list" or "a spell that is cast from a domain slot" and whether or not spontaneous domain casting also counts. Divine Metamagic requires that you have the metamagic feat you would like to apply it to. This was clarified in the eratta. So in order to take DMM(Persistent), you would need Extend and Persistent as well.

I'm not sure how you're getting the Survival ranks you need for Seeker of the Misty Isle. Because DMM(Persistent) eats up so many feats, I recommend getting DMM(Quicken) instead. Why even bother with Spell Penetration if you're going to buff up and beat things to death?

Marshal has it on the class list.

Marshal has it on the class list.Interesting...not in front of the books, so I couldn't check it.

Seeker of the Misty Isle in the book is described as "race- and deity-specific" and the flavor text implies Corellon Larethian. You need to get DM approval to even use it. Also, Church Inquisitor requires a LG or LN church (not Corellon, as his al is CG).

Use wood elf for +2 to dex and str -2 to int and con, and free bows and swords from your first level (helpful).

If you are changing Seeker so it doesn't require elf or Corellon, then being a human might be recommended.

Aw, crap.

Well, Divine Quicken it is, then.

1st part answered. Spell penetration is just from my own experience. Any high level combat it seems I've needed to break through some ungodly SR in order to affect the bad guys. It's a good choice for any HL caster.

Are you saying it's not as good as another turning feat? I was kinda wondering that myself.

I think our GM is OK with anything that isn't sickly broken or illegal. So yes, I believe both the alignment issue and the use of the p-class will be OK. Or he might just let me be human.

But is it *worth* it from a pimptastic standpoint? :thinks:

Divine Spell Power

Get the Healing Domain for the RSoP abilities.
Note that Empower is actually better than Maximise for Healing Spells so just before Max is a good place to drop out if you have other plans. (or get your DM to swap them)
