I am currently playing a half-dragon(red)level 2 fighter who is gonna become an ur-priest. Actually I follow a build I have read in another thread(can't remember exactly) which is something like this : Fighter2/Sorcerer4/Ur-Priest2/MysticTheurge10/Archamage2. We are playing by 3.0 rules but some stuff from 3.5 is allowed(3.5DMG prestige classes hence MT, unearthed arcana, BoED-although the party in this campaign has 3 evil members and one good, first time I play evil character by the way, so BoED has no use here but whatever).

I am asking if adding the half-dragon template was a good idea(although LA +3 hurts) and I would be interested in some tips so as to keep the template and not create a new character.

Excuse me for not getting into details but I am out of time right now.

Thnx in advance.

Edit: (I found some time) I rolled great stats and the DM was pretty generous with us because this is a hard campaign. My stas were rolld 14, 16, 16, 14, 18, 18 so after a +2 inherent bonus to Con and +3 to Cha and the "racial" modifiers my stats are like this : Str 22, Dex 16, Con 20, Int 16, Wis 18, Cha 23. I know the level adjustment is tough and I wanna stick with this build as much as possible. This FRCS and my character is from Waterdeep(Cosmopolitan(bluff),Education regional feats at first level, also Iron will form fighter bonus feat-correct me if I am wrong for this feat but I haven't got my PHB in front of me right now).

Personally I am partial to going Human paragon 3, wiz 3, Incatrix 4, Ur Priest 2, MT 8.

Human paragon gives you really nice skills to start. I'd go super high int so you almost double as a rogue in the beggining. The above build gives you level 9 arcane and level 9 divine spells at level 20. You actually get level 9 divine at 19. You have a cl of 10 for divine and still 17 for arcane, which is probably more important. So this leaves you with allot of versitility. As well I just put incantrix in there as a basic good PrC, you can really use whatever wiz class you like, or substitute with others.. You might be able to switch out the wiz class in the beginning with another class, but its pretty hard to get the +3 fort for a base save early for the levels in UR priest.

For stats dont bother much with physicals. Play as a wizard to start. But later on you really shine. At level 20, you can time stop, shape change to a titan, and then cast divine power and rightious might (before errata) and attack with a 20BAB and 57 str... There are a ton of other buffs as well in there you can use, magic vestments, keen edge, invis, greater magic weapon, etc.. And if all else fails start hucking meteor swarms or other wiz spells. Versitility here is huge...

Just my two bits. I really think most races that start with levels really hamper you... But thats really is your call.. Just my 2 bits

Edit, actually thinking about it I would go with the above build, but forget the human paragon levels just go straight wiz 5, or go for a Dwarven Runecaster or whatever. That way you could wear Plate and still cast arcane... At a total of 9 levels of wiz you could then switch to ur, and do the above. As well you could then choose 1 level of exotic weapon master at level 20, and choose exotic weapon proficiency bastard sword. Choose the strong blow or whatever (dont have my books with me) that allows you to double your str on a 1haneded exotic wielded twohanded. You'd do as above but would get +46 dam from str on each blow. Only problem is you lose out allot of versitility.

Thank you for the reply.

I can't remember if Dwarven Runecaster is in any of the 3.0 books. Although 3.5 material is allowed(can't tell exactly which), if this class is in a 3.5 book then I think neither me nor any of the rest of the party or DM owns such book.

Also today I was reading Unearthed Arcana(borrowed it from another PC)and I was reading about the half-dragon paragon. Now I am even more tempted to keep my current character with this template. Our DM will allow me(I talked to him abou it)to switch my fighter levels with half-dragon paragon levels. This will get me more to the skill ranks requirements I need, without wasting feats like Cosmopolitan and Education(bluff is a class skill for red half dragons).

Thank you also for the information about choosing other classes as I level up but personally, I prefer to stay in the sorcerer class. I want to keep these two traits of my character(half-dragon template, sorcerer class). Just a matter of taste, I just like it that way.

If anyone could give me some tips on this, I would appreciate it. I like my character and I don't wanna change him, although I have played him for only two sessions but still...

Thanks in advance.

Ok people this the Character Optimization board and I am asking for some help, tips here since this the first time I play an evil character.

Also I try to follow a build I have seen in other posts that sounds interesting.

So I kindly request for some advice and I would appreciate if anyone was willing to help.

Ruxpin reply was great. Anyone else willing to add some extra info?

Thanks in advance.

it will be very difficult to qualify for ur priest with fighter 2 sorcerer 4 because of your very limited skill points and the load of knowledge requirements of the ur priest.
since you said that unearthed arcana was allowed, human paragon will be essential.

the build ruxpin posted is dead on. although be sure to go
paragon 1 wizard 1 paragon 2-3 wizard 2-3.
otherwise the human paragon levels wont add to your wizard levels.

level adjustment kills casters.

now that i read that you want to keep the half-dragon and sorcerer, um, i dont know.
maybe half-dragon paragon 3 sorcerer 4 ur priest 2 mystic theurge 8 at ecl 20
but you are totally sacrificing your sorcerer casting.

you ask for advice and then insist on things that are suboptimal.
you might get someuse out of arcane strike and/or the turning feats in complete warrior. nevermind.

We play in FRCS and I used two feats(Cosmopolitan(bluff) and Education so I can meet the requirements. I have good stats as I mentioned before and it's not a big problem to spend skill points for the requirements. Maybe not what I would in other case but it's a small problem.

Yes I insisted a bit so as to get an answer. I've seen others doing it so nothing strange about that. Suboptimal or not I just asked for help. Sorry if I sounded rude either because I insisted alot or cause I asked for advice that are suboptimal.

Anyway thanks for the reply. I just asked for tips 'cause I want to play a different character this time. As a matter of fact I am gonna post something similar about my character's roleplaying in the Character Development board.
