So, this character has a lot of cross-class skills in things like Persuade, Bluff, etc, because he is trying to start up a merchant house. I don't know how important skills are in optimization, just thought I would mention it.

Personality wise, the character disapproves of violence, but is willing to engage when necessary. I can't take SF: Enchantment, due to in-campaign stuff. I plan on going Initiate of the 7-fold veil eventually.

So, mainly wondering about feats and spells. We start at 7th level. Going Wiz5/Mage of the Arcane Order 2, at the moment. Might change that. Character is human. Spells are where I need the most advice. I have access to pretty much any 3.5 material.

Feats: Scribe Scroll SF: Abj, SF: Nec, Collegiate Wizard (I don't have spare gold for extra spells, so I kind of need the extra spells this gives) Craft Wand, SkillFocus: Spellcraft, Extend Spell.

When picking spells, I tried to go for ones that would let me avoid fights, or incapacitate foes without hurting them (Much). Also, which ones will be useful in (I hope) setting up a merchant empire.

Spells:

1st: Alarm, Grease, Protection form C/E/G/L, Mage Armor, Unseen Servant, Friendly Face, Charm Person, Grease, Disguise Self, Ray of Enfeeblement, Lesser Shivering Touch.

2nd: Web, Detect Thoughts, Hideous Laughter, Continual Flame (Might drop), Blindness/Deafness, Eagle's Splendor, Rope Trick, Oathsense(Homebrew spell), Numbing Sphere, Invisisbility, Leomund's Trap.

3rd: Dispel Magic, Magic Circle, Sepia Snake Sigil, Slow, Deep Slumber, Hold Person, Suggestion, Ray of Exhaustion, Illusory Script, Secret Page, Shrink Item, Shivering Touch

4th: Lesser Globe of Invulnerability.Evard's Tentacles, Ghazne's Compact (another homebrew spell), Charm Monster

Able Learner + Mindbender dip = sooo many ranks saved + telepathy and a Fort boost.

Wizard 6/Mindbender 1 to start (taken Wiz 5/MB 1/Wiz 1 so you can start with Mindsight), then Fatespinner 2/IotSV 7/FullCaster 4.

Spells are cheap, don't know why you need that feat.

Consider Wiz 6/Geometer 3/Iot7FV 7/archmage 4 or whatever other spellcasting Prc you want to top it off. The Geometer Book of Geometry (Ex) is another great way of saving money on scribing spells so you can spend it on scribing scrolls. Also, have you considered specializing? You are taking spell focus and greater spell focus abjuration for prereqs so it kind of makes sense that you'd be an abjurer. Not everyone can justify giving up two schools of magic for an extra spell/lvl/day.

Collegiate Wizard is a great feat all around, IMO. Two additional spells known at every level with one feat? Too good to pass up in any less feat-intensive wiz build. Unfortunately, Iot7fv is fairly feat-intensive, but the reqs mesh well with Archmage for the build suffix.

Unless you're planning on being a Wand merchant, I'd suggest Craft Wondrous over Craft Wand. Your options are much greater with CWI thus allowing you to outfit your shop with whatever wondrous items you can whip up in downtime.

Another feat option for mid-late levels: Leadership. Get some followers to build and even run your shop. Either way, a cohort is always nice.

For spells that incapacitate, a decent combo Web+Stinking Cloud (Sor/Wiz 3). Those caught in the web that fail their saving throw against the cloud can't do crap. There's Hold Person for low will save opponents and Bands of Steel (CA, Sor/Wiz 3) for low reflex targets; it also doesn't allow for SR :). Finally, a targeted Dispel Magic on the BBEG's weapon followed by a Shatter spell will rid him of it for good.

Either way...just my 0.02 cp

I need the feat because, after buying stuff for business (DMG 2) and a house, I have less than a thousand gold left.
I like the mindbender idea, though. But what is mindsight? Also, I don't know if my DM will allow Mindbender, for the same reason he wouldn't allow SF: Enchantment. There is a guild in the campaign that does proprietary research on such things....

Also, if I went Mindbender, or Geometer, which feat should I drop?

I think Bands of Steel and Stinking Clud both go on my list; with an extar wizard level, I can afford them for free.

I had been considering Leadership anyways...Hrm, Lots to think about.

Necromancy Focus can wait awhile for Archmage.
