Sci 08-09-06, 02:54 PM	I'm sure it's been done before, but I haven't found it in any of my searches, so can someone help me throw together a combo featuring the Mage Slayer feats, the Occult Slayer Prc, and the Forsaker Prc into a good melee-based antimagic type. The set of books and stuff is pretty open; any 3.5, most 3.0 (dm says he'll "update" any that seem too overpowered, but he's fair). Haven't got my rolls yet, but let's assume they'll be sweet, since we can pretty much reroll the whole set over all we want. I'm really, at this point, shooting for some ideas, but my basic one is someone with just a complete and total hatred of all things magic. I was thinking VoP would be pretty useful in the mix too, but it isn't a necessary.
PhaedrusXY 08-09-06, 03:19 PM	I would suggest purging the Forsaker class from your mind. The total loss of all magic items and abilities is too devestating to really make into a workable character (unless you use VoP, which technically gives you supernatural abilities, and hence violates your forsaker "oath"). Forsakers make decent NPCs, but not good PCs. I had a Forsaker NPC "faction" in a game I DMed. It is ok if the NPCs are too weak and die, or are basically helpless in certain situations. It isn't really ok for the PCs... There is a link in my sig to a thread on "Mage Killing". There are some pretty good suggestions in there, and there are links from there to a couple of other threads on similiar topics. I'd suggest browsing through them. If you still insist on using Forsaker (which you shouldn't), then here is a suggestion: Make sure you have good ways to deal with flying and/or invisible opponents. The NPC group I made had a wyvern trainer, and an elite group of wyvern riders that used a combination of nets, sticky liquids, and flour to find and take out flying, invisible targets. The riders used harpoons for their weapons, and always had a squad of archers on the ground ready to pincushion whatever they revealed. As a Forsaker, you're going to have alot of "extra" money laying around. I'd suggest taking Leadership, and having one group of your followers be crafters. They'll supply the rest of your "army" with superior weapons and armor, especially arrows with heads of the various materials needed to beat DR. You can also have one or more of them train and/or ride special mounts, like the wyvern riders I described above. Use this extra money to try and come up with ways to cover your weaknesses. If your DM will let you combine Forsaker and Vow of Poverty, you might be able to make something decently workable. I would certainly suggest picking a race that has wings, though.

Sci 08-10-06, 01:56 PM	A whole bunch of awesome suggestions Ok, so Raptoran (or Dragonborn Lesser Aasimar, the cheesiest way to get +6, -2 to your stats, with the wings choice) Monk/Fighter with VoP into Forsaker, Occult Slayer, and possibly Stormtalon if I have a level or two to burn, making sure to pick up the three Mageslayer feats so he can see through invisibility and rip apart magic defenses. I followed the threads through and saw mention of Jordain Vizier...I didn't take much interest in Shining South and don't have it with me, do you think that would add to the mix nicely? I'm not really sure what it does, as I let a friend borrow them for a while, but from what I read in that thread, it seems to work nicely with the whole idea...unless it requires spellcasting as a prerequisite or something. You have to start ALL over if you redo it. It makes it kinda high-powered, but nobody really ends up with more than like two good rolls most of the time.
