| FamousArcher03-07-06, 01:11 AM | [FONT=Comic Sans MS]Anyone have any really good archer builds? I have one, but I'm a one hit wonder. I'll give a quick description. Catfolk Scout: 9 Order of the Bow Initiate: 4 Point Blank Shot(1st lvl) Precise Shot (3rd lvl) Dodge (Bonus Feat Scout) Weapon Focus (6th lvl) Mobility (Bonus Feat Scout) Woodland Archer (9th lvl in place of the Rapid Shot pre req for OtBI) Greater Weapon Focus (OtBI) I get 3d6 for Skirmish 2d8 for precise shot But I have to Move 10 ft/round to take advantage of my skirmish, so I basically will never take advantage of my full round attack. I have a really good bow that has a lot of bonuses, but as far as damage, I don't compare to anyone in our campaign. Anyone have any good ideas?feats?PrCs? |

As far as a ranged Scout goes, Greater Manyshot (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/psionicFeats.htm#greaterManyshot) is a MUST. Try this on for size (assuming ECL 13) Human Scout 7/Highland Stalker 5/Exotic Weapon Master 1 (Eventually 11/8/1) 1. Point Blank Shot 1. Rapid Shot 3. EWP (Greatbow) 4* Track 6. Weapon Focus (Greatbow) 9. Manyshot 12. Greater Manyshot 15. Precise Shot 16* Feat 18. Feat Progression goes Scout 7, Highland Stalker 1, EWM 1, Highland stalker 2-8, Scout 8-11. Take close-quarted ranges combat as your EWM trick. Winds up with 17 BAB and +5d6 Skirmish that applies to all his 4 arrows. Throw a bunch of ranks into Tumble to avoid AoOs as you take your move action to initate skirmish, then unload. Close-quarters ranged combat prevents AoOs in melee range. If you can get the Splitting enchantment (Champions of Ruin), by all means DO IT! Your damage output will double [8d10+40d6+(Str*8)+(Enchantment*8)+(Misc* 8)] at lvl 20 I think this could also work for catfolk, though you lose quite a bit on that last level of Scout. Shuffle the feats around and see if they fits. Easier if you can buy off the LA. The feat progression could be a bit gimped if you start at low levels, due to the fact that precise shot comes into the build so late. However, it should shell out a good ammount of damage at your level. Low level feat progression version: 1. Point Blank Shot 1. Rapid Shot 3. Precise Shot 4. Track* 6. EWP (Greatbow) 9. Manyshot 12. Greater Manyshot 15. Weapon Focus (Greatbow) 16. Feat* 18. Feat Delay Exotic Weapon Master until 16th. Oh! I just remembered a nice little spell called "Arrowmind" from the SC. It goes above and beyond the EWM and the OotBI without costing valuable feats or levels. Price is 4000*1(proper slot)/*1.5(improper slot)/*2(slotless). 8k for a slotless item of arrowmind is a small prce to pay for 2 feats and a level. That said, i'd suggest the second feat progression if you REALLY want that close combat shot as a class skill, although it's really unnecessary if you can get the item. |
