Any good builds using Paladin of Tyranny UA variant? [Archive] - Wizards Community

03-04-06, 01:42 AM I was just wondering if there were any cool build using this variant from Unearthed Arcana?

I have an idea in mind but just checking all the builds that might be on here.

One idea I have is to be a
Human (OA)Samurai2/Paladin of Tyranny3/Monk3/Iaijutsu Master 9/XXX3

If anyone has any builds, it would be appreciated.

Feats:
1 Power Attack, Cleave
3 Mounted Combat
6 Improved Sunder
F1 Ride By Attack
F2 Spirited Charge
9 Weapon Focus(Lance)
12 FREE
15 FREE
18 FREE

Cavalier 10 can be replaced to something more suiting to your backstory or setting.

Now, the combo of Hexblade, Paladin, and Blackguard will give you 3x your CHA mod to saves against spells. With mettle from hexblade and a ring of evasion, you should be immune to any spell that allows a save.

You just switch out Despot for Paladin of Tyranny (Just remember, Despot is a stronger choice)

03-04-06, 04:15 PM This one combines Paladin of Tyranny with Prestige Paladin. It may not be as official as Paladin of Tyranny but they're all just variants in the end. I can't take credit for it, but I forget who mad it in the first place.

Fighter 2/Hexblade 3/UrPriest 2/Prestige Paladin of Tyranny 3/Nar Demonbinder 1/Mystic Theurge 4/Dragonslayer 1/Spellsword 1/Nar Demonbinder +1/Dragonslayer +2

16BAB, 9th level divine (at 16th), 8th level arcane (at 18th) ignoring 10% ASF (at 17th), Cha bonus on saves (twice versus spells) plus Mettle, Special Mount, Turning for Divine Metamagic, numerous other minor abilities.

Note that the Education feat (ECS) and a good intelligence are required to get all of the skill requirements. Human race is required unless you're allowed flaws. You also want a wisdom of 28 or more at 16th level or you may not get 9th level divine spells until 20th level. That'll take a +2 tome and a base of 16 or a base of 18.

03-04-06, 04:18 PM Holy crap Lilt, that is a tough build. I'd sub Monk for Fighter, though, for the boost to saves, Evasion, and other goodies. Worth that last point of BAB, IMO.

Worth that last point of BAB, IMO.Maybe, but Prestige Paladin requires Mounted Combat and Fighter can give that. If you take the Bodyguard fighter variant then it can give you Iron Will also, if you're not allowed Bodyguard then you can take another generally useful feat (like spirited charge).

Still, there's something to be said for the monk route. Depending on what you consider to be worthwhile, you could add two levels of UrPriest (or one of UrPriest and one of Sacred Fist) instead of two of the MT levels to keep the BAB up at the expense of 8th level arcane spells. It's from a very limited spell list anyway.

Sadly I don't have Dragon 312 for the Despot. My plan was to make this guy a fighter type using a Polearm and when his opponents actually got in close to whip out his Katana. I was thinking of taking the Spring Attack line of feats and getting Whirlwind Attack. Wonder if there is a good way to get that Blade Dancer prestige class to double my movement?
