Greetings.

Playing a changeling rogue, thinking about picking up the chameleon class asap. . .

Was wondering if there were any preexisting threads/builds on it.

anyway, I'm second level currently, here's my stuff

Rogue 2 (1 changeling sub level) Changeling

S 10
D 13
C 12
I 15
W 8
Ch 14

Feats
Able Learner
Nymph's Kiss

I could pick up one more feat with another flaw, any suggestions? My Traits are Skinny, Cautious, and Slippery. (I like being able to get out of grapples)

Since I have the changeling rogue level I don't have trap finding, but I can emulate that later with chameleon. . .

Anyways, any optimizy tips on this bizuild?

I've given up hope of the search function ever returning. I just wish I knew about thread subscriptions a few months ago.

Would: Rogue 1/ Paladin of Freedom 4 / barbarian 1 be a good base for chameleon? I'd have skills, divine grace, turn undead, and rage, so I'd qualify for raging and turning feats

Then I'd go chameleon and pick up levels of exemplar and thief acrobat later on.

With my changeling substitution level in rogue, exemplar levels, and thief acrobat I can take 10 on almost all skills. . .

Or maybe just rogue 2/hex 3 for evasion and mettle, then 10 chameleon, x exemplar and x thief acrobat. . .

Is there a changeling paragon class?

:)

Oh wait, I'm going rogue/chameleon/warshaper. . .

TOO MANY CHOICES!

I saw somewhere that someone mentioned doing a domain restricted search with Google. This, of course, has the downside that it won't find any posts less than a day old.

Haven't used it yet as I have either saved certain threads in my favorites bookmarks, or just rely on the fact that many of the things I look for are either linked in sticky or are linked when someone inevitably asks for something that has been done and asked ofr thousands of times since.

Changeling Rogue 3/Swashbuckler 3/Chameleon 10/Warshaper 4

Good?

I want to be pretty versatile. . . but not suck totally in combat.

Should I go feat variant rogue? (if DM allows it)

Feats:
1 Able Learner
F Nymph's Kiss
B Combat Expertise
B Dodge
3 Improved Disarm
6 Mobility
9 Spring Attack
12 Whirlwind Attack
15 Open Minded
18 Open Minded

Anyway, I just think it would be amusing to run into a group of folks and disarm everyone with WWA . . . Just need a disarming rapier. . .

The popular thinking behind optimising the Chameleon class is that it best to take a very forumlaic approach: start with a skill class, progress to a class with full BAB, get into Chameleon at 6th level, finish chameleon at 7th-10th level, finish up with a full BAB class that also has a good number of skill points. If you have the ability to turn undead in your first 5 levels then your BAB is not as important because you can get access to Persistent Divine Power.

This would thus be a more optimal approach to your above build:
Rogue 2 / Swashbuckler 3 / Chameleon 8 / Warshaper 4 / Rogue +1 / full BAB class 2

I'm sure you'll be able to find a class that fits, together with better feats than a couple of Open Minded throwaways, once you reach higher levels.

I am personally playing a Chameleon in an evil campaign right now. My build can be found here (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?p=5183923). On that thread I completely undercosted the number of turn attempts available to the character (because the paladin turning and cleric turning are two separate abilities), so I have found that with a nightstick I already have three persistent buffs up at level 7. Persistent Swift Haste and Persistent Divine Sacrifice are awesome at that level.

I don't know if there are any racial pre-reqs for chameleon, but if you were and elf, possibly wood elf, if you're being a melee fighter, you could take the last two levels as a Champion of corellon Larethian, Dex to Damage, sounds good don't it? Or Barb for fast movement and uncanny dodge, and I dont know what the variants for Barb are, but if there's one which trades away rage, i suggest that, rage is good when use more than once a day.
