Hello,

I am amazed that nobody already start a thread about this new PrC.

Resume for those who don't know the class:

- From "Races of the wild"
- Prereq.: K.arcane + K.nature 8, can cast level 2 of arcane & divine
- Feature : 3/4 BAB, full caster divine + arcane, "compagnon Familiar", Wild Shape level = Druid + hieorphant, some way to cast touch spell via animal and plant.

Obvious builds:

Druid 3/Wiz 3/Aracane Hierophant 10/Mystic THeurge 4 (caster 17x2)

Druid 3/Wiz 3/Aracane Hierophant 10/Nature Warrior 4 (wild druis 17 + ability)

Druid 3/Bard 4/ Rogue 2/ Arcane Hierophant 1/ Fochlucan Lyrist 10(tradionnal lyrist with good companion, bard way)

Druid 3/Bard 1/ Rogue 2/ Wizard 3/Arcane Hierophant 1/ Fochlucan Lyrist 10(advance wizard instead of bard)

any build with one level of the beastmaster PrC (+3 lvl for animal compagon)

Good feats could be :

- Natural spell (DM: The bear cast fireball!!!)
- Animal bound (+lvl for animal companion)
- spontaneous healer
- Dragon WildShape

Good spell type :

- Exalted feats (but i am not personally a fan of exalted character)
- Practiced spellcaster

Any other ideas?

Ehrm...there have been quite a number of Arcane Hierophant threads.

Keep in mind that with the iconic build (Dru3/Wiz3/AH10/MT4,) you won't actually be entering Arcane Hierophant until eighth level, due to the +4 BAB requirement.

Doesn't that iconic build completely lack Wild Shape? Seems that you need to do Druid 5 first (unless this has already been logic'd around somewhere). That would open interesting PrC options for the 2nd 2 levels of Wizard/Sorceror though.

I've had the the good fortune to have been planning out a Drd3/Wiz3/MT10/? for the campaign that I'm currently playing in. Right now I've just gotten my first MT level. While I'm waiting on being able to buy a copy of Races of the Wild, I'm excited for getting it for getting the character that much better.

The party didn't have a healer, and I was feeling too stubborn to be a Cleric so right now my build stands as a human in FR (Diety: Chauntea) with:

Mercantile Background, Spontaneous Healer (helping the Party out)
Martial Weapon Proficiency Scythe (farm boy and well it was flavourful)
Combat Casting

Now I'm not certain on the Wild Shape aspects of AH as I've heard both that it stacks and grants Wild Shape and that you have to have WS in order for the levels to stack. So that's going to be rather important, if they do just plain stack and as Drd3/AH2 you get Wild Shape I'll take:

Natural Spell
Spell Penetration
Arcane Mastery
Greater Spell Penetration

I plan on taking those as Spell Resistance could be a major pain in my ass going forward and with those (and depending on DM's ruling regarding Arcane Mastery = Skill Mastery for combat) I can beat SR of 11+Class level rather than having to roll a d20+CL-3 for each arcane and divine while standing right in front of them.

Of course if Wild Shape doesn't stack perfectly like that I won't take Natural Spell.

Instead of taking two Spell Penetration feats, why not take two Practiced Spellcaster feats? Only one less point for overcoming SR, and numerous other benefits.

Good call, the duration increases would be more useful than the one extra to SR. Thanks.

It would seem from the wording of the class ability that a pre-level-5 Druid wouldn't get Wild Shape...but the example they give uses just such a Druid.

Given the example, it seems pretty clear that they intended for the levels to stack for Wild Shape, even if the Druid level alone isn't enough to grant it.

If you have levels in druid (if only 3), then you are still granted wild shape. Only if you are a class like ranger is when you don't get it.

I'm amazed how i'm not seeing enough feedback concerning this PrC. It is insane. Sure you lose out on some elemental wildshapes and other abilities, but who cares, you can cast shape change and an assortment of spells via 9th level druid/8th level wizard. You have all the goodies of both a wizard and a druid and much, much more, and we haven't added any feats yet. Is it that the wiz3/druid3/at10/mt4 build that solid. IMO, me thinks this could be the best build or has the potential of becoming one, with some tweaking.

Viva los druids! Son muy excellente.

Edit: Hey Snow, if you're out there, you know druids better than most, what do you think? Do we have the technology? Can we make it better? <million dollar man theme song starts>

It's solid, yes, but it has downsides. You'll have level 9 spells in two categories at level 20...but not until then. For the majority of your career, you're a full spell level and a half behind the curve...when you get fifth level spells, the pure casters are halfway to seventh.

At level 20, the build rocks. At level 15, the build is good. At level 6, the build blows chunks. As with any Mystic Theurge-style build, you have to suffer through a lengthy period where you can't pull your own weight before the build finally comes into its own.

Thanks for the ideas folks,

but i am sure we miss something that make this character insane.

Maybe a touch spell we could deliver in wildshape....
