Hey, just wondering if anybody knows a good way fo going about to making a pretty good level 20 character who has maxxed levels in dragon disciple..... would be great if i could see a few builds... I'm lookin for either a sort of Royal Dragon Disciple who is trying to form into a *gold dragon* hence that symbolizes good or him being evil attempting to form into a *red dragon* sense that sort of symbolizes evil...

Heh, back to the character char lvl 20 28 point buy all books except for Psionics and Oriental the character will start with base lvl 20 money... and yeah could you also please list a few items i should get? well depending on your ideas for it basiclly i want the char to be either a charging dragon disciple or a semi defensive/offensive disciple sort of like a paladin....

~thx~

Here's my favorite DD build:

Human Str 14 Dex 10 Con 14 Int 10 Wis 12 Cha 15. Put all level-up points into Cha. By 20th level, you'll end up with Str 22 Dex 10 Con 16 Int 12 Wis 12 Cha 22. With +5 Tomes for Str and Cha, a +6 Belt of Str, and a +6 Cloak of Cha, you should end up with a Str and Cha of 33 (+11 modifier).

1 Paladin 1 Power Attack, Cleave
2 Paladin 2
3 Paladin 3 Weapon Focus (falchion)
4 Paladin 4
5 Sorcerer 1
6 Sorcerer 2 Divine Might
7 Dragon Disciple 1
8 Dragon Disciple 2
9 Dragon Disciple 3 Divine Vigor
10 Dragon Disciple 4
11 Dragon Disciple 5
12 Dragon Disciple 6 Improved Critical (falchion)
13 Dragon Disciple 7
14 Dragon Disciple 8
15 Dragon Disciple 9 Flyby Attack
16 Dragon Disciple 10

After 16th level, go into any fighter-oriented prestige class that floats your boat. Divine Champion is pretty good. At 20th level, you should have a +16 BAB.

The trick here is, don't put your bonus DD spells into sorcerer spells; put them into Paladin spells. By DD 10, you'll have 8 1st-level paladin spell slots.

For sorcerer spells, take True Strike and Feather Fall. They don't have a Somatic component, so you can cast them in full plate to your heart's content.

With a falchion, Bless Weapon, and Improved Critical, you have a 30% chance of critting on every hit. With Divine Might up, Power Attacking for full (and with True Strike, you'll likely hit), you can do hellacious amounts of damage. Assuming Str and Cha of 33, and a falchion +5, the damage numbers look something like this:

2d4 + 16 (Str bonus * 1.5) + 11 (Divine Might Cha bonus) + 5 (weapon enhancement bonus) + 32 (Power Attack) = 69 on average. Against a monster vulnerable to crits, you'll have a 30% chance of doing double that, or 138 on average.

I'm sure our resident CO experts could come up with better, but I don't own a lot of books.

That's a pretty crazy build, mellowship. Nice.

Might I maybe suggest bastard sword instead of falchion. You can then take a level of Exotic Weapon Master from Complete Warrior, so you can then apply x2 your strength mod to damage.

Damage then works out to:
1d10 + 22 (Str bonus * 2) + 11 (Divine Might Cha bonus) + 5 (weapon enhancement bonus) + 32 (Power Attack) = 75 on average. Against a monster vulnerable to crits, you'll have a 20% chance of doing double that, or 150 on average. Not sure if the crit trade-off is worth it, but it's a pretty cool possibility.

Yeah but DD suffers a -1 size penalty to its BAB when it gets the size increase. Would this affect its # of attacks per round, or is it factored in after?

In other words, would you be:

+15/+10/+5/+0

or just

+15/+10/+5 ?

Not sure if it makes a difference in the long run, but, it might.

I don't think it's BAB, just attack...

Bottom of Page 56 in Tome and Blood:

Look under the section called "Enlargement"

And no it's not about natural male enhancement either.

Heil 3.25! But in regards to the issue at hand, I'd say the build posted earlier quite rules... nothing like Fighter1/Swash3, or Fighter4 to fir those last levels.

Heres a concept for your evil character start off as human with the major dragon bloodline trait (red dragon) in unearthed arcana.
This gives you dragonic powers as you increase in character levels. As this will help with the concept of him evoling into a dragon, combine this with the dragon disciple class and then the half dragon paragon class after you reach apotheosis. You will have four uses of you breath weapon per day and + 8 natural armour bonus by 18th level.
as for the classes take them in this order
Battle sorcerer 5, Dragon disciple 10, Half Dragon Paragon 3, Battle sorcerer 2.

The dragon mystic from dragon magazines 26th anniversary is strong class to take instead of paragon class
