Right now I'm looking at Abjurer5/???3/IotSV7/Fatespinner5, ditching Illusion+Enchantment. This mage is built mostly as a troubleshooter, able to deal with a large variety of situations with his natural abilites. here are my questions:

1) I have 3 levels left. What do I do with them?
2) Is it worth specializing? Abjuration is a vey sexy school, with awesome spells at every level, from the early protection from evil/arrows to the tricksy spell turning to the awesome Imprisonment or MDJ. But ditching those two schools is kind of tough.
3) If I specialize, is it worth it to drop extra spells a day for spontaneous dispel magic? It's sorta like robbing Peter to pay Paul in a sense.
4) Could I possibly go Sorcerer 8/Fatespinner5/IotSV7? I get to cast my theme spells more, and I don't lose two schools of magic.
5) Is the last level of Fatespinner any good? Seal Fate is very powerful, to be sure, but is the lost caster level worth it?

2) Losing 2 schools isn't worth specializing, I just go diviner and lose only one school and if you are going to dump a school dump evocation since it's the easiest to make up for with conjuration picking up the direct damage slack.

5) Personally I don't think seal fate is worth the loss of a caster level.

I don't think it's worth it to specialize in Abjuration. It's actually a decently unique school which presents a problem: there aren't that many things it covers enough from other schools that you could drop two schools and not miss things.

In all honesty, Elves make far and away the best Wizards thanks to their Level 1 Substitution. By your description of what you want to play, this would be the best selection anyway.

As for Fatespinner, I am just not wild about it. It does give some nice abilities, but it has something of a temporary feeling to the class abilities. If I did decide to play a Fatespinner, then I would only go 4 levels. Not only does the 5th level not give spellcasting progression, but it doesn't give any save or BAB boosts. Just a d4 and Seal Fate.

P.S. If I were making a professional mage duelist, then I would definately take all 5 levels of this class. 1/day abilities are great if you know that you will rest between each or even every other combat.
