I am starting a campaign soon and am looking to play a wizard. We are starting at fifth level and I can use any books. Basically I was looking for any 10 lvl prestige class to take between wizard five, and archmage five. Any books are allowed. My first notion was incantrix, but I dont really expect to have any other casters in the party, any help will be appreciated.

Probably your best bet (if you don't want to go the undead route) is to be a grey elf and take the elf wizard substitution levels. Try to take a one level dip into Mindbender PrC to get telepathy and take the Mindsight feat to get super-radar...you'll know where every thinking monster is in the entire dungeon all the time. If you don't want to be an Incantrix, Ruathar helps fill the duldrums until you can get to the higher level prestige classes like loremaster, archmage, etc. Keeper of the Cerulean Sign in LoM is also nice which gives you 6 skill ranks per level as well as some thump vs aberrations.

It isn't a ten level prc but harper mage will give you some of the pre reqs for archmage.
