| Tsuul07-16-04, 06:04 PM | Greek, Troy era game. Bronze equipment. Stats were rolled. There are 2 house rules. One: A new kind of spear. It is exactly like a Longspear, except it is one-handed and slightly smaller. So one handed reach is too good to pass up. Two: Heavy Armor prof. does not exist. It is replaced by an extra General feat at first for classes that lose it. I am considering 2 possible paths, both similar until the later levels. I am not interested in dipping out of fighter. Going to give the full 20 a try, possibly more. Starting out at 3rd. Specificaly I am looking for advice on score placement (switching str/con). Score adjustments as I level. And Feat choices/timing. Daunting Presence is last on the first path cause I ran out of stuff :( Human Abilities: Str 14 (+2), Dex 15 (+2), Con 18 (+4), Int 13 (+1), Wis 12 (+1), Cha 13 (+1) 1 Improved Sunder Power Attack Dodge Mobility 2 Two Weapon Fighting 3 Improved Shield Bash 4 Weapon Focus(Longspear) [+1DEX] 5 6 Combat Brute Elusive Target 7 8 Weapon Specialization(LongSpear) [+1STR] 9 Improved Bullrush 10 Shock Trooper 11 12 Greater Weapon Focus(LongSpear) Greater Weapon Specialization(LongSpear) [+1STR] 13 14 Improved Two Weapon Fighting 15 Combat Reflexes 15 Sidestep 16 Improved Critical(Longspear) 16 Iron Will [+1CON] [+1CON] 17 17 18 Iron Will 18 Combat Reflexes Mage Slayer Karmic Strike 19 19 20 Daunting Presence 20 Deft Opportunist [+1CON] [+1CON] Looking forward to any ideas/comments. Be harsh. Thanks! |

Be harsh. Thanks! I'm not sure if you are starting at level one or not but personally I would switch a few low level feats around. I would do this: 1: weapon focus: longspear, dodge, two weapon fighting, improved shield bash 2: mobility 3: power attack 4: improved sunder minor details but it just seems like weapon focus would be more useful when your BAB was low and for the same reason, power attack with a 1 handed weapon is somewhat useless. Also, I don't think I saw improved toughness on your list...it's a feat you may want to consider at higher levels. G23armani |
| Tsuul07-16-04, 11:44 PM | Thanks for the input g23armani, I will be switching out to get Weap Focus earlier. I didn't put much thought into the early levels other then what was needed to get the tacticle feats asap. I also found out that there is another important houserule. Death is psudo permanent house rule. Dropping to negative hitpoints forces a (DC -1*current hitpoints) Fort save or be unrecoverable. Fighter types will be in danger of making more numbers of saves, but non fighter types will be in more danger of failing the saves. So I am thinking I am making a good choice with bumping up Con. This DM has a fondness for high damage dealing encounters. |

This DM has a fondness for high damage dealing encounters. It's probably banned given the circumstances but if it is not, the Diehard feat would be quite useful. If Diehard is not banned (I know you said you were against this but...) I would dip into Ranger for 3 levels to gain track, two weapon fighting and endurance (prereq for diehard). |
