any unique options for goblins/gnolls/lizardfolk/etc? [Archive] - Wizards Community

12-16-06, 03:23 PM Kobolds have been getting a lot of love recently from WotC, but what about all the other D&D classic low HD/LA races? Are there any unique prestige classes or feats for these other races?

Goblinoids - a reasonable selection of races from this subtype, and the Stonedeath Assassin (Races of Stone)

Lizardfolk - aside from that neat Viletooth variant from Dragon Magic, is there anything else?
Other lizards: Poisondusk and Blackscale (MM3)
The "other" reptiles/aquatic: Sahuagin, Troglodytes, Merfolk - can't think of anything

Gnolls - MM3 gives us the Flinds and the nice Flindbar, and the Long Reach feat (Unapproachable East) is pretty good but is a regional feat, so isn't even exclusive to gnolls

Orcs - Eye of Gruumsh (CW), Orc Warlord (Races of Faerun)... anything else?

And that's about all I can think of at the moment. It's a pretty short list.

On another slightly tangential note, I feel like something can really be abused with the Viletooth Lizardfolk's acid bite, but I can't recall of anything. I know the Venomfire spells makes poison attacks do a ton of acid damage, but is there anything that enhances poison attacks?

12-16-06, 03:45 PM I find them a little high on the ecl scale, but Monstrous Humanoid HD are certainly better than humanoid. Fairly comparable to a minotaur in terms of physical stats, better speed, proficiency with the Greatclub (which can be improved a bit if you use the Maquahuitl (MM4, p.88)). I'll add the Poisondusk to my list above as well.

But still, this is just picking nice races, not actual PC development options.

Lizardfolks can qualify for Scaled Horror with ease.

Ability Focus (poison) from SRD
Deadly Poison from SK
Virulent Poison from SS
