The requirement of "must be able to cast an arcane spell of 3rd level or higher" isn't met by warlock's invocations. Anyway around this using feats, races or no more than a 3 level dip into a prestige class?

yes there is. it requires blowing two or more feats. precocious apprentice grants you a 2nd level spell slot and spell. then use one of the many ways of heightening a spell for free. earth spell combo works. improved sigil krau works and theres a feat in heroes of horror that allows you to heighten (among other things) spells for ability score damage.

The Spellstitched template. It applies only to corporeal undead, though.

spell stitched template only grants you spell like abilities and doesnt work for PrCs that require spell casting of a certain level. it does however allow entrance to PrCs that require the ability to cast certain spells.

If you're allowed to use one of the feat tricks (improved Krau sigil, etc) to bump spell levels up, then 3 levels of Assassin will work, and it also gives you the required sneak attack. I think the earliest you can get into Assassin is level 5, but I don't remember if the Warlock has all the necessary skills.

If not, then you could always do Illumian Warlock 2/Human Paragon 3*/Assassin 3/Arcane Trickster 10
- and I would suggest finishing up two more levels of Warlock at some point in between

*Illumians are considered "human" aren't they?

I think the real question is even if you qualify for arcane trickster, will you be able to level up your warlock powers? Methinks not.

Yes you can. It's outlined right at the beginning of the prestige class section of Complete Arcane.

I believe I saw a build once that went Rog 1/Warl 4/Daggerspell Mage 3/Telflammer Shadowlord 5/Arcane Trickster 7. Since TSL gets you third level casting at 5th level.

You also get shadow pounce, which you can use to good effect with the flee the scene invocation.

If your DM is open to houseruling, just do this:
- Houserule changes "3rd level spell" to "Arcane Caster Level 5" (or 6).
- Use the feat Spell Hand from Complete Arcane to have Mage Hand.

That is how mine will be working once we get off of the ground. I also consider it in a lot of ways less exploitative than the various tricks to line up a 3rd level spell via feats and prestige classing. The AT predates the existence of a class with a caster level but no spells, and isn't the sort of class that just wouldn't make sense for the Warlock, which some of the prestige classes that require spells of a given level are.

If the DM isn't open to houseruling, then use one of the tricks listed above.
