| Pallin Rahl06-12-06, 12:01 PM | Pounce (Ex): When a creature with this special attack makes a charge, it can follow with a full attack—including rake attacks if the creature also has the rake ability. As some of you may remember from some recent posts of mine... in a friend's World of Warcraft RPG campaign I'm playing a Monk that is essentially a werewolf (close enough... it's a worgen, but thematically you get the picture). He's more of a feral kind of melee'er and it would be great if I could somehow get him the Pounce ability via a feat. I know you could get an item that does it, but my character seems to be perpetually broke and has more important things he's saving up for anyway (the elusive, price-wise, Monk's Belt that's he's been dying for... that will help offset his level adjusted race). Similarly, I'm sure that there's possibly a PrC out there that grants it as an ability... but I don't want it that much - where I'd work my way into a PrC just for it. (note also, no Psionics allowed in the campaign) So, are there any feats out there that would grant me the Pounce ability? Noting: My character is a monstrous race, so if there's a fitting monster feat, let me know that too ...the DM would probably OK it. Books allowed: Core, PH2, Complete books, BoED, FR, Draconomicon, Savage Species, WoW RPG, OA (also, could probably could get away with getting a feat out of the 3.0 splat books if necessary). |
| Caelic06-12-06, 12:15 PM | Snow Tiger Berserker will do it, but there are a few problems: 1. It's from Unapproachable East. 2. It's for light weapons only, but that shouldn't be a problem for a monk using Unarmed Strike. 3. It requires you to be a barbarian of the Snow Tiger lodge, but your DM might be willing to negotiate on this point, as it seems fitting for a werewolf. |
| PhoenixInferno06-12-06, 12:15 PM | PHBII has Two Weapon Pounce which is a little weaker than the actual Pounce ability (trade +2 attack for a 2nd attack with your off hand weapon). Races of the Wild has Catfolk Pounce which lets you execute a Pounce if you catch your target flat-footed, and is limited to Catfolk. |
| Pallin Rahl06-12-06, 12:26 PM | Yeah, I saw Catfolk Pounce... and it seemed a bit weak to me ...the "only when they're flat footed" killed it for me. The racial feat up there might work... at least it give precedence for it to exist. If no other suggestions come up, I'll probably ask him if we could change the feat name (to something more fitting) and allow me to take it. ...my character was born into this werewolf-like state, so I can see it being fitting as a racial feat. Regardless, if there are other options that don't involve modifying an existing feat, I'd love to hear them :) |
| Harliquinn06-12-06, 12:34 PM | I thought there was a Wild Feat (Give up a use of Wild Shape / Day) to gain Pounce for a round. |

| Zaxter06-12-06, 12:56 PM | If you would have access to Magic of Incarnum, you would be able to get Pounce with all natural weapons with two feats, but unfortunately you don't seem to have... Not two feats, two levels of totemist and one feat. Taking an Open X Chakra feat does not actually allow you to bind a soulmeld to your chakra, you need to get those through class levels. Luckily, you would only need a small dip. |

If you would have access to Magic of Incarnum, you would be able to get Pounce with all natural weapons with two feats, but unfortunately you don't seem to have... Sadly we don't have it. :( |
| _J_06-12-06, 01:27 PM | Not two feats, two levels of totemist and one feat. Taking an Open X Chakra feat does not actually allow you to bind a soulmeld to your chakra, you need to get those through class levels. Luckily, you would only need a small dip. I believe that is still under debate. I myself think that the feat should give you new binds, but I can honestly understand why it could be seen the other way too. So I think it would be up to the DM to decide. |
| AndrasOtto06-12-06, 01:32 PM | Lion of Talisid (BoED) grants Pounce as a class ability, but you didn't say what class(es) you have. edit- SS has a spell that lets you Pounce also (ok, so they aren't feats, sorry) |
| jameswilliamogle06-12-06, 01:39 PM | Cat Folk Pounce + Neraph Charge feats collectively will work 1 time per opponent charged, guaranteed. Snow Tiger Berserker is the way to go, I think. Lion's Charge (spell compendium, other sources) will work for spells. |
| Tempest Stormwind06-12-06, 01:43 PM | Check out this post (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=5305146&postcount=29) for ways to get a full attack on a charge. Again, I reiterate this link. I'll be updating it soon, after MADNESS! is finished. (See sig) |
